If I've got this right, whilst still having achieved a satisfying increase since March those miners seem to be losing their mojo relative to BTC. May I ask if you are still in there?

A friend of mine sold his house to his girlfriend to repay the mortgage and then "invested" most of what was left (approx. 70k) into bitcoin while it was at around 33k. This was about 2/3 years ago. It's been a roller coaster for him and his girlfriend (who he convinced to invest too) and has put a strain on their relationship. He's convinced from the many "experts" he follows on YouTube that in the next few years, it'll hit great highs and his "investment" will see him good.
He's also now started putting money into Solano cryptocurrency, claiming that this will also be a big winner going forward.
I've got a few quid in ETH, XRP, BNB and BTC, but nothing that could potentially be life changing unless perhaps XRP somehow really takes off like BTC did. I've not invested any real time into researching around crypto and literally picked a few I've heard friends yap on about, just for fun I suppose.

When I read tales like that I just can't imagine the thought process people go through to risk everything on a crypto investment.

Generally is seems to be people who perhaps are not that wealthy going all-in in the hope of making it big and having the retirement they dreamed of ... sadly I fear form most it will not end well.

Perhaps a tad superficial, but there may be a few insights to be gleaned from this edition of R4's File on 4.

I listened to that over lunch.

Tragic tale of people buying something without understanding what is was or the risks because they were blinded by the possibilities ...

This space seems to have created opportunities for ponzi schemes on a massive scale and many greedy / poorly educated people have been rinsed with devastating results for some.

I am sure cryptocurrency will play some future roll in our world but as a get rich quick scheme I still think there is more disappointment to come ...

I've been in crypto since late 2017 and have avoided BTC till last Thursday. ahead of what I hope is the next BR.

I think an ETF is coming and for sure, so is the next halving.

My BTC has, so far, risen 14% in less than a week. I'll be selling it well before the BR tops out, which I'm hoping will be a 2x on last ATH.

I'm under no illusions. I could my money in the blink of an eye, so I never put more in than I can afford to lose.

Good luck to everyone, whatever coins/tokens you've bought.

PSA: In case anyone hasn't seen it yet, Sotheby's BitcoinShrooms Ordinals Auction will begin closing lots in just over six days time.

This December, Sotheby’s New York is delighted to present an online sale featuring select BitcoinShrooms from the bitcoin ordinals project by Shroomtoshi. This is the first time works from the very anticipated collection will be available to the public, as the rest of the works have not been released. Elegantly weaving the nuanced tapestry of Bitcoin’s history, culture, and core technicalities, each unique, pixelated, and hand-crafted piece forms part of a masterful, yet playful guide to the revolutionary realm of Bitcoin. Within the BitcoinShrooms collection lies a trove of references — from iconic Bitcoin memes to advanced technical concepts— a visual symphony that captures Bitcoin’s essence from the perspective of someone there since the early days.

    https://www.sothebys.com/en/digital-...dinals-auction

This could be your once in a lifetime opportunity.

Cardano up over 50% this week alone, lovely, should be an epic bull run as we've not even hit the halving yet.

I saw several people testifying of making so much money with the help of @AliceCovington0 on Bitcoin option trade and I decided to give it a try and now I'm glad now she helped me and my colleagues to make $50k in one week, thank you @AliceCovington0 for transparency and trust

    Alright, time for accountability.

Does the Torres ruling still stand? Yes it does, as she denied the SEC's request for an interlocutory appeal (how it is even possible that a judge can deny an appeal against one of her own rulings is beyond me). But then, there is the Rakoff ruling from just a few weeks later, that seems to contradict the Torres ruling in large parts. While I agree that the Torres and Rakoff cases had many differences (when are two cases ever factually identical?), I still find it difficult to reconcile that both can be held correct at the same time. Torres seems to agree as she has stated that her decision has absolutely no precedential value outside of the concrete case of SEC vs Ripple.

The SEC are still pursuing avenues to get the Torres ruling thrown out, amongst others they have even given up on their pursuit of the individual actors in Ripple to come to a faster conclusion of their appeals process. I do not claim to understand all legal considerations in the case, but I see that the SEC continues to pursue bad actors as seen in their recent wins against Binance.

As I lost the bet, I have just contributed £50 to the forum fundraiser.

In any case, anyone who bought XRP on the back of the decision in July (see the blue arrow), is in deep loss. Not sure this is the future of payments, and the $250 price targets that were passed immediately look a bit foolish now.

No, the ruling didn't mean that SOL or MATIC are not securities as judge Torres has clearly stated that her ruling is not applicable to any other token.

Something of a crash ongoing with BTC this am. I sold out of my modest position yesterday after the rally of the last couple of days, may be worth getting back in once the dust settles however I do recall from previously being burnt with crypto that the start of every year does tend to be a time for price falls.
