Argo stock halted with news pending. The guys on the stock talk thread seriously think this is the day that they will be bought out and the stock with explode as a result.

I am afraid they may be in for a big surprise.

Surely this is so they can announce that stock holders can swap their stock on a 1:1 basis where 1 share = 1 Lambo?

Still don't understand why Argo didn't trade at all today, but some trades happend in the US pre-market at the UK equivalent of 4.5 pence.

Still, 100% downside left for the baggies.

My money is on them announcing a takeover offer from a little known Dutch company called Bitcoinbloem, who are primarily interested in their miners and warehouse facilities.

Yet another sobering summary on the current state of mining and miners as a precursor to this week's (possibly today's) announcement/clarification from Argo.

I doubt that they will provide more info beyond the news published on Friday, this is inline with their continuous shameful treatment of their shareholders bagholders.

Their "November update" provides no information at all about cash flow or cash balances, how is this helpful at all? They are just stringing them along, unfortunately neither the FSA in the UK nor the SEC in the US seem to be interested in it. Their complete BoD and C-suite should be fired and banned from ever running a public company again.

** edited to add that I have only now understood that they seem to have been suspended indefinitely by the FCA - does anybody think this will trade again before bankruptcy? In any case, the company hasn't even as much as mentioned the trading suspension on their website, what a bunch of absolute scvmbags.

    Boom. Bankruptcy today.

    https://twitter.com/wsfoxley/status/1601283443739938816

Argo Blockchain, a company that mines cryptocurrencies, made public its intentions to file for bankruptcy earlier than expected on December 12 due to an administrative error. Will Foxley, the Content Director at Compass Mining, was the one who first posted a screenshot of the special announcement made by Argo Blockchain on December 9. Argo is preparing for a bankruptcy on Monday, per a screenshot of a document sent my way (likely accidentally posted). Included in the paper with the heading “Special Information for Stakeholders” was an Argo Special Announcement, which revealed that the cryptocurrency mining firm would voluntarily file a petition for protection under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code just two days from now. Foxley continued by saying that it makes him sorry to watch so many bright teams being washed out by the harsh economics of mining, but at the same time, he wished all those who were weathering the storm the best of success.

A number of people have questioned the validity of this particular tweet over the weekend. It seems (to me) a little strange that even in the light of its fairly widespread dissemination there still remains no apparent official response of any kind. Perhaps they are clinging on for some kind of deus ex machina.

Simply unbelievable that the company is not communicating. The news of the trading suspension is still not even mentioned on their website.

Going to be a bumper year for the insolvency practitioners although I suppose if you are going to have accounting black holes you might as lose untraceable currency even if its value plummets as you lose it.

If you must hold crypto, make sure you take it off the exchanges. Reports of massive outflows from Binance, combined with new money laundering Investigations in the US. If you haven't learned by to now that you can't trust those guys not to commingle your funds, you are beyond help.

There is only one single exchange in the world that I would consider using: Coinbase. They are running a poor business and may go bankrupt (their bonds are telling a clear story there), but at least your coins are in safe custody.

Argo indeed opened for trading, at 2pence, down two thirds from last Thursday.

Bagholders buying the dip since, I will never understand how people are throwing away their money just because they are invested already.

Argo is a zero, I said it a year ago.

    Working as intended.

A methamphetamine and cocaine gang operating across the U.S., Mexico, Europe and Australia used the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange Binance to launder tens of millions in drug proceeds, according to an ongoing investigation by the US Drug Enforcement Administration. Between $15 and $40 million in illicit proceeds may have been funneled through Binance, the DEA alleged.

The previously-unreported case provides rare insight into how Mexican-based narcotics dealers are increasingly looking to cryptocurrency as a means to obscure illicit business transactions. At the same time, it shows federal agencies moving to track illegal use of cryptocurrency - once touted as untraceable - and how closely they work with exchanges like Binance to track organized crime (though Binance itself is facing a federal probe over concerns about money laundering on its platform).

According to a search warrant obtained by Forbes, the investigation into the unnamed Mexican gang’s use of Binance began in 2020 when multiple DEA informants using localbitcoins.com, a crypto trade forum, interacted with a user offering to exchange cryptocurrency for cash. The transaction appeared to be simple: send Bitcoin or USDC (a “stablecoin” whose value is pegged to the U.S. dollar) to the seller’s account and then meet him or a contact to collect the cash in person. The trader - Mexican national Carlos Fong Echavarria - told them the cash came from “ family restaurants and cattle ranches,” according to the government’s account.

What's odd about that is the feds will have a perfect record of all the transactions. I know crypto is a mess and has no chance of survival without being tidied up ( an understatement).......but surely in those situations they don't have years of complex financial transactions to unravel , they have the record on one piece of paper

Er, I still have a couple of grand in Binance.

Do I pull it out and take the loss, or keep it in and lose everything like a gentleman?

Edit: not to worry, the invisible hand appears to have taken care of the problem. I only have £295 in there. Hohoho.
