Thread: Bitcoin

Hmmmm, this is interesting - Elon's not stupid and is a slippery eel. My take is he's backtracking with a problem, a few months later BANG he's come up with a tech solution, clean BTC etc Musk brand on it, green cred, more PR and he'll see his investment up again far beyond $65K.

So I fancied throwing a bit of pocket money at crypto. Nothing much, just a bit of a flutter for a bit of a larf.

So I was all set up on Binance and find out you can’t link your HSBC bank account to it. So, no way of withdrawing funds when the time comes.

Any other option without creating a new bank account, which is too much faff.

Just move your crypto when the time comes to another exchange like Kraken who you can withdraw to HSBC with

I believe HSBC have banned all crypto exchanges from depositing and withdrawing money.

My name is Michael and I keep buying bitcoin.

"The company disclosed that it spent $15.0 million to buy about 271 bitcoins on Thursday at an average price of $55,387 per bitcoin, including fees."

    https://www.marketwatch.com/story/mi...ghs-2021-05-13

I think a chart update is due as soon as I've got the time.

I think the market has realised what is happening. That company will not survive 2021.

So I’ve just dipped my toe into the crypto market not really knowing to much , I’ve only used a very very small amount that I call shits and giggles amount so if I loose it then it is what it is , Binance seem to be the one that comes up alot on threat , so let the shits and giggles begin

Could be carrying on the trend as tether have dropped a report saying they’re only actually 3% backed by USD. Probably trying to lob it out under the radar of the tesla news.

I’m not convinced it’ll blow up just yet, been going for years and not exactly a secret what they’re up to, I’m sure they can milk it a few more.

I had a few £ in Binance / Coinbase holding Eth, helium and ICP. I may regret it (esp ICP) but I’ve sold them all and swapped for bitcoin.

Lot of crypto being hit the last 24 hours but ADA Cardano is bucking the trend, admittedly only 10% on $1.20 but doing better than the big players..

Jackson Palmer, one of the co-founders of Doge-Coin, left Twitter a while ago.

He returned for a few minutes yesterday to tweet this (and deleted it again - but the tweet is authenticated here).

Quite a few of us in this thread own crypto while quite a few feel its a ponzi waiting to collapse.

Be interesting to hear views on what you feel the future holds for crypto?

Personally I think its here to stay, the likes of ETH and BTC are being pushed for ETF recognition in the US which would make it far more investable for big institutions, Visa are looking to use crypto as a payment system, even a £30m Banksy was purchased using crypto this week!

Of course, it could all come down like a pack of cards and Wallstreet can celebrate but like I said I think its here to stay, especially the big players..

It’s hard to think that there won’t be some sort of global crypto currency in the future... but quite how that works I’m unclear and how is it regulated and exchange rates set. For 3rd world residents with poor local currency management and banking it would be very attractive.

In the west we already have a perfectly good means of exchange and digital transactions are easy, cheap and instant. So I’m not sure if there is a problem to solve. Only 3% of money exists as physical cash so it’s all digital so not really that different to crypto is it?

Bitcoin may survive as a digital commodity if it achieves mainstream confidence but with no intrinsic value it’s really at risk from a loss of confidence. If you want to invest in something like that how is a Bitcoin eft and better than a gold etf?

There will be some long term crypto activity but right now it looks like a Wild West gold rush and there is a lot of highly dubious activities going on. There will be some big winners and a lot of losers, so I’m staying clear ... good luck to those who take the plunge but it’s not for me ... until it becomes mainstream and has some level of regulation or protection of assets.

When the shoe shine boy or balding 50-something boomer puts a few quid into crypto, you know it’s time to liquidate your crypto holdings.

Just put £100 each into BTC, ETH, LTC, ADA and VET for a bit of entertainment.

A lot of skill and research went into the above choice, using the tried and tested dart and dartboard approach.

He is defo up to something. I have a suspicion that whatever it is, it’s going to result in two things……

    1) Elon being the richest man on Earth by some margin.

    2) Tesla share price going to a new ATH.

I wonder if his plan is as simple as……make people sell their BTC to buy Doge, then convert all his Doge into BTC and send that skyward again.

Or……try to make Doge into the “Satoshi” fractional coin that Bitcoin needs to become mainstream.

Well done you. Nice and smooth.

Don't think crypto will rally, very weak right now on the back of the Tesla rumour, just wait until that hits the big wires and Asia starts their day. I think BTC has a lot of downside from here.

Had a look at the Polestar2 yesterday. So much nicer than the Tesla equivalent and cheaper too. Proper luxury inside instead of the Tesla plastic vibe.

Made me think Tesla's days as the default EV may be numbered as I'd for sure rather spend £50k on a Polestar 2 than a Model 3.

I guess I'm not unique so at some stage that'll filter through to investor sentiment.

Regardless of whether Tesla has or has not sold BTC I just find it ridiculous that ones mans comments can have such an effect. Imagine Warren Buffett touting or slating a stock every couple of days through social media..
