Depends what your looking for in a 4x4
I’d take the Audi.
To sum up, both brand new
Audi Q7 s line with sunroof, virtual cockpit, tech pack etc vs Range Rover Sport, similar spec except Audi is 3 litre vs 2 litre in RR (both diesel) and Audi is £150 per month less due to legacy customer deal. Test drive both, Audi cabin nicer, RR looks nicer. I'm steering towards the Audi but wanted to gauge opinions here first.

It's just a matter of time...
That would do it for me if was a lease deal

Audi. Virtual cockpit is ace. Bulletproof reliability. If the 3.0 td is as good as the one in my Beemer then you'll be grinning all day too.

Thaks guys.
It's a PCP deal with a balance to pay at the end (optional). I think it has to be the Audi. Insurance is more expensive on it but the cabin is just a lovely place to be
Are the 2018 RR sport available to view at dealers? Updated interior and hybrid options. If not you might be comparing the soon to be older model.
Audi for me - no question.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Audi all day long.
Range rovers are for drug dealers and footballers.
I'd go with Audi reliability
I nearly crashed looking at a 2017 RRS in black with flat panels (no door handles) amazing looking car!
Love my Q7 best car for everything
Neither for a school run!😉
Didn’t know the rr sport came with a 2ltr engine now ?
Also make sure it’s the higher powered 3l in the q7. I drove the 210hp I think it is and it felt under powered to me
The 270 is supposed to be spot on
A friend owns a Q7 e-Tron (Nagaro Blue) since May - after dumping his Mercedes E-Class Estate. He got fed up with the Merc after countless returns to the shop. (Electronics...). The Audi has done 15K kms now and never missed a beat. My friend is a really tall and heavy guy > 2m tall and 105 kg+. Not fat, built like a brick house. He fits perfectly in the Audi. His car has the 'flat' steering wheel. For his size very convenient: he can pull up his knees without hitting the back of the steering wheel.
The hybrid goes like a rocket, I must add.
I noticed that the luggage floor sits rather high compared with other SUVs of that size. The nagano blue colour is very beautiful, I think.
Menno
Range Rover would be on cool/sub zero wall
Audi would be on the uncool wall
Audi the better car but for image its the RR
How can we answer before knowing the typical use?
Having had both it has to be audi. Miles ahead.
Many times I have come close to buying a Range Rover / Land Rover product.
I would say that probably fifty percent of my friends have one. I love the looks, and the interiors.
Unfortunately, about ninety percent of that fifty percent have had endless reliability issues with them. And most of them bought new...
Currently I have a Lexus RX Hybrid 4x4 as my daily run around. It doesn't have the style, but the quality is superb - nothing, repeat nothing, ever goes wrong.
It is going shortly to be replaced by a brand new VW Touareg R-Line Plus in metallic reef blue. I had a look at a few different cars, but decided that I really love having an ultra-reliable no hassle car for regular use (I have a weekend Maserati that needs regular tweaking and fettling, so I don't want two cars that need TLC). The Touareg is beautifully built, has every option on it, and is a properly powerful car. They also come very high in any reliability tests.
Any car that can do this gets my respect:
So clever my foot fell off.
If your priority is reliability and practicality then the XC90 has to be worth a look. Mine has done 250k miles and only needs servicing items.
We had a similar choice recently and ended up going for a nearly new Grand Jeep Cherokee. Really like the looks, huge interior (can easily fit 3 x 6ft2 15 stone rugby playing sons in the back!) and this is the third in a row we have had and they have been flawless. Also a lot less than the other 2!
All that said I wanted the full fat Range Rover but it is my wife's car so had to relent!

Ryan - out of those two, it would be the Audi for me. What are you moving on from though?
A family friend who is a footballer (only mentioned in light of the above comments about footballists) had a RR Sport before moving to a Q7 about a year ago, and then to a Q5 in quick succession, primarily because his wife didn't like the size of the RR and Q7. Maybe the downsizing is also a reflection of him not being a premiership player too though.
I wouldn’t have thought a 2.0l would have any guts in it for a car that size - I was thinking 0 to 60 in about 10 seconds but surprisingly it’s 8 which isn’t bad.
FWIW my brother has had a Q7 and switched to a RRS 3 months ago, which is what my dad also drives. He’s not taken to it at all and and is buying another Q7.
I think the RRS is as striking as any of the cars in that category, however I always think the interiors lack a bit of the wow factor for the money they cost.
Mine is the face lift first gen and it is a great tool. It's even pretty good off road (for a soft-roader), I took it to an off road course in Wales earlier in the year and do the occasional bit of green laning when the mood arises. I used to do a lot of miles, so have driven a lot of high-mileage cars. The XC90 wears its mileage better than anything else I have had. The 200k+ mile Audi's have all felt very tired and loose. The XC doesn't feel "new", but it certainly doesn't feel like its done 250k.
That Touareg pulling the 747 is something else though... that must have some serious torque.
Correct
I don’t think when I see a RR you must be a cool guy but it is a better looking car than the Audi.
When I see a Q7 I think that’s a quality family 4x4.
Halfwit I’m not too sure what you’re trying to argue here.I drive a fairly low profile car as I don’t like that much attention in a car however If you think image doesn’t play a part in choosing a car then you are deluded.

I think RR's are pretty cool. I also think some Rolex are pretty cool too....
Must be true if there's a chart...........

People might buy a car because they need a bigger one (second most popular in chart) but the car they choose may well be dictated by brand/image (even though that is not the reason for buying a car).
Would have to be the Range Rover Sport for me.
British built is a bonus for me every time.
What you ask people and the answer they give opposed to the truth are very different.
If Rolex or Tudor don't think image makes any difference do you think they would have paid millions for Roger Federer or David Beckham.
Choosing between certain automobiles is inextricably linked to image/pereception by peers and to argue otherwise is nonsense and would make add campaigns redundant.
