Thread: The Paul Newman Paul Newman

    The Paul Newman Paul Newman

THE Paul Newman Daytona is due to be auctioned in New York tonight. Anyone hazard a guess at what it will go for? The auctioneers have put a huge amount of time and money into hawking it around the world, and the appeal goes beyond watch people into film and celebrity memorabilia territory. I wouldn't be surprised to see $10 Million, but we'll see. I probably won't be bidding. Prefer the non Paul Newman dial.

I would rather have that mint condition Mark 1 DRSD at lot 42 - that is as much a one off as the star of the show is.

Just checked again and there is a "live now" icon appeared - clicking on it nothing happens but the auction doesn't begin until 11pm.

The interesting thing is Paul Newman's car that he came second (I think) at Le Mans in 'only' fetched $4.5 Million.

No, but a letter from his family is surely better provenance than a crappy guarantee certificate from back in the day.

I dont believe it has, but it does have some rather good provenance.

    $15.5m... wow.

I loved the jump from $1m to $10m.

Unfortunately this is the last we'll see of this watch for many many years, but the same can be said for basically any watch of this ilk.

Probably close to $20 Million with all fees.

Love to know who bought it.

When you look up the word 'smooth' in the dictionary, there'll just be a picture of this auctioneer.
