I guess it depends where this hypothetical office tower is...judging by the number of videos I've seen of engineering in China going wrong (people falling down lift shafts to their death or people getting swallowed up and killed on escalators), a Chinese glass bridge falling to pieces doesn't surprise me...they don't really apply the same level of safety regulation that we do here.
