    Apprentice watch watch

Like him or loathe him, Lord Sugar has a dandy collection of watches.

Episode 1 he is sporting a white Daytona ceramic, although could be a cunning marketing ploy for Rolex.

Let’s see what he wears next week...

I also noticed and thought it looked fantastic, having seen so few of these actually being worn. The white dial looked so clean (and very temping in about 10yrs when they're readily available)

I have hankered after a Daytona but they are just a wee bit small on my wrist, plus they seem to get mixed reactions from those who buy them.

It’s the PCL’s that would get me. Mind you if money were no object..

Hardly impressive given he's flush with cash though imho. That said, I always have a nosey of what's on his wrist too.

If I had his money I'd have a rather nice collection of watches as well........unfortunately I don't.

Didn't realize anyone still watched that program.

Given the opportunity I'm sure most would have the Daytona as part of their collection.

I've always hankered after one, but after seeing one that my brother bought in the flesh, I have to say I was underwhelmed.

Lovely watch but over hyped and if it was readily available I don’t think as many people would want it.

The new WG on Oysterflex is nice :)

    Well, I wouldn't.

Too small and I don't like white dials much, so not for me.

I've always wanted to like the Daytona, being a sports car racing fan since my teens (winners of Daytona - and Le Mans - get one as a prize, so I was aware of the Daytona decades before the Sub!), but it never works for me. in photos or in person (some colours do look better than others, though).

I don't know how much disposable cash Lord Sugar has (more than me, for sure ), but it seems in character for him to choose a watch he likes, rather than one that makes a statement.

He certainly gives the impression of being in the wealth bracket that wouldn't consider a Daytona a 'premium' product.

At least he hasn't got one of those hideous blue and brown ones...

I much prefer the non-ceramic version. It's the black ringed sub dials that don't do it for me. To me it's a step backwards in style to the Zenith models of old. Nothing wrong with the Zenith models looks, but they were of the time. design needs to move forward (even at Rolex glacial pace) not backward.

As to teh Oysterflex, for me, it looks great I tried a RG Yachtmaster with that strap, but I found it clings to the skin and hairs on the wrist, not uncomfortable, just annoying.

Of course not, he's doing his TV job, or rather wearing it at work, so it's a daily, even possibly a beater to him, I'd imagine

Oh yes, I forgot how rough and tumble sitting behind a desk jabbing stubby fingers and stupid sales drones is...

Surprised he doesn't need a G-Shock for such rigorous activities really!

Exactly my point, with such a job you can wear nicer things because they are less likely to get scuffed. Therefore his daily and/or beater

Ha ha, I have to say the daytona has always left me cold, I think I'm just more of a Datejust person. I certainly can't see why they are so much money that's for sure.

It's a terrible show but I will watch it.

I too noticed the watch, obviously. In past years I've noticed a pepsi on his wrist. Or as I knew it back then, a blue and red Rolex

Looked good on him. I remember a few years ago a guy called maybe Olly had an orange PO that helped inspire me to pick one up.

Funnily enough I agree, I've had many a Rolex, Sub-Date, YM, EXP-39, EXP-II, Daytona finally settled on a DJ.

The Daytona I lusted after for years, finally got one, admired it, put it on the wrist and went meh, it's alright. But, even though I've owned one, thought not much of it, every time I see one in pictures, I hanker after another.

In a way I find that the impressive bit. Too many filthy rich folk seem to just go and buy the most expensive thing they can find just to highlight how rich they are. I like the understated nature of his watch given what he could buy if he were so inclined.

I hope I don't share this thought when I finally put a Daytona on my wrist.

He buys all his Rolex watches from the same AD and has done for years. He bought a yellow gold (blue face) Submariner off them last year. He used to wear the white 116520 in previous series.

OK, fair point. I like his taste in watches generally - it could be much worse if he threw money at more expensive tosh like Hublot or bling-bling Rolex.

They still sell those you refer to as tosh and bling-bling. Let’s be honest, half the members here rave about cheap Seiko mass produced watches just to be part of the clique. Many of those tosh watch owners would laugh at that and I’m happy to do the same. It's all a matter of taste. There is no right or wrong.

I'm sure AMS must be Product Placement program hence the collection.
Prime time TV, with a multi millionaire running the show, wannabe entrepreneurs would be drooling over his business dress sense of 'high flyer', hence carefully picked products are worn by him.

    Yellow gold Sub today.

Whole point of watching this wretched show now! As soon as he walked in the boardroom in a brown suit I knew it would be something with a bit of colour

It's sadly become a parody of itself. Even the editing to make it look like they're arguing etc is painfully obvious. It's a shame.

Nail on the head, for me at least. The Mrs still watches it but all too contrived and tedious now.

He bought the watch from Michael Super’s in Plymouth and paid list price. I was annoyed at the time as I was expecting the first on that Spires was getting in.

No idea what tonight's is. Haven't paid as much attention as previous week's as I'm doing a bit of work. It's a vintage looking watch on black leather. Don't think Rolex for once
