Seamaster on mesh? whats your take on it?

Hi ladies and gents, so I had a yearning to try my 1120 Seamaster on a mesh strap. Had a bit of time just now so gave it a try. I think it looks good but i'm about 50/50 with it tbh. Whats your opinion, am I risking the wrath off the Omegagods?

It looks nice in that picture. Not sure how I would get on with that combination for too long though, it really depends how it wears.

I’ve considered and reconsidered one for my 2254.50 many times. Without end links the gaps at the Watch head look a bit off to me.

Looks great, but then again I'm not a fan of that one's stock bracelet at all.

Thanks guys. I know what you mean about the gaps at the head, but it does wear well and they are comfortable.

So far more in favour than I thought! Thanks for all the opinions by the way.

I know exactly what you mean, sometimes things just grate as soon as you see them. It's growing on me a bit though I must admit.

It's a bracelet that I'm really not too sure about, when I'm back at work I fancy buying one of these,
But I know I'd have to put it on a strap, the gaps at the lugs just,,,

Nice one, some seem to highlight the gap more than others, don't know why.

A big yes from me. Makes it look more rugged and tooly. The mesh finish on this is very nice. Looks unrefined but quality.

As above and with any watch, can't get over the gap - for mt it only works on watches with hidden spring bars or straight faces - like a tuna

I like omegas on mesh. Just not this one.

  16. #16
My take on it is you need to start saying "Seameshter".

    Other than that, great.

I like it, looks good on the mesh.

I think I've only seen a Ploprof on mesh and thought it looked right. Still the case I'm afraid. I just don't see the attraction; is it comfier to wear than a bracelet?

Having seen the image of the Super Ocean the difference is definitely the polished horizontal end piece. If the mesh on the Seamaster had the same or maybe a brushed horizontal end it would balance out the Dressy Diver look. I think the mesh you have it on is to tool like without that end piece. The mesh works well on a Baby Ploprof , Proprof and id guess on a Planet Ocean (Which takes it’s heritage from the tougher looking dive watches) Just my opinion of course and it appears a lot of the opinion likes it.

Thanks again folks, seems still mainly in favour with some reservations. It does actually feel very comfortable to wear.

    Thumbs up

It works, but in my view there are better options like the original bracelet or a nice strap. Sorry.

I think this looks better on the mesh strap than the seamaster. I like the black dial but I've never been a fan of the bezel on the omega GMT's. Saying that I think the main reason it doesn't look right to me on the seamaster is the blue bezel, if it was all black or all silver I think it'd be a better match.

Here's my 'great white' on a strapcode mesh. I find the mesh much more comfortable than the bracelet when the weather gets warm.

If the mesh bracelet had a solid end piece to hide to the spring bars like the Breitling then I think it would look better IMO. I must say as well that I prefer the bezel on the "great white", is it possible to get that on the black face gmt?

I found the original straps quite weak with the pin/collar combination. As for the mesh, depending on hairiness you might find it a bit of a puller!!! The only mesh that I did find comfortable was the OEM mesh.

Haven't had any scalping issues yet 🙂
Might have to look for an OEM mesh sometime to try.

The mesh was extremely comfortable to wear (no hair pulling at all for me, but I am not exactly Cousin "it") but in terms of looks I think I preferred it on the rubber it came with (I wear slightly loose):

Never tried a rubber strap on a watch so that's another one to add to the list.

I've a watchco Seamaster on an Omega mesh and don't think anything else would suit it better. Super piece of kit and very comfortable.

I don't know why but the mesh seems to work on the PO but not on the SMPc. Might be that the mesh appears more toolish to me and so suits the PO more than the dressier SMPc?

Ok so that looks very good.

I’ve had an itch for a black dial Breitling Heritage 42 on a mesh for years and actually looking at your PO pic they are quite similar in look.

The Omega Ploprof has always looked good on mesh too.

The Breitling mesh on the SuperOcean Heritage is absolutely superb, one of the (if not THE) very best available.

I like it on the mesh. Been toying with the idea myself for my recently purchased SMP.

Some great comments thanks. Didn't realise how popular it would be with people. But also a bit Marmite to some understandably! Now to fleabay to find an OE mesh (yer right!)

I wear a couple of Seamasters on mesh, but they have squared lug cases and hide the spring bars well - a rounded case just doesn't have the same look for me.
It's just a matter of time...
