Your pics are bad for my heart, and potentially harmful to my bank account!

Great pic, if you zoom in it looks like you can even see oil on the pallet stone!

Aren't the slots on screw heads meant to align with those lines between the screws? Only one does in each pair (kind of)

No. It is impossible to achieve.

Well other brands can do it so can't be impossible. It's the attention to these little details that matter

No. I was only joking with the Rolex crown alignment discussions in mind

A bit of name dropping here: When Jean Claude Biver launched the first Big Bangs, they didn't exactly enthral watch forums (as with most new things), and in typical JCB fashion he decided not to ignore that little community and invited about 40 members of a watch forum to a presentation in a prestigious Paris hotel. I was fortunate enough to be among the guests and that very issue was raised, as the BB's screws were all but aligned.
He explained that although it was theoretically possible (but very expensive to have identical screws by slotting the head at the end of the fabrication process based on where the thread started, or to sort them in as many boxes (60? 120?) as you could think of based on the angle between the start of the thread and the slot of the head, it was impossible to do the same on the receiving thread of the bezel (the bridge in the photo above). Therefore for each 'hole' the watchmaker would have to try a very large number of sorted screws, and even then the alignment would not always be perfect.

    Thanks for sharing this knowledge

For the record, I am not at all bothered by this - be it the screw down crown or the screw heads on bezels. Was just trying to make a joke which in the end didn't turn out to be as funny as I had hoped.

Apologies to Jocke for derailing the thread and detracting attention from the amazing internals and photography skills.
