    Show me your Certina

OK, I'll admit to having never owned a Certina (at least I don't think I have), despite often walking past Dipples in Norwich and being thoroughly taken by them. I haven't succumbed to wobbly wallet syndrome yet whilst looking through the window, but Marco's Precidrive that's currently on SC has really awakened my interest in Certinas.

I must say that I really like their quartz chronograph models, and not necessarily the high end stuff. These for example...

So, show me yours. Get me even more interested!

My DS Pilot Quartz Chronograph that I've had since 2004. My first 'proper' watch, and I find it impossible to take a decent photo of it.

Looks good to me. That's in very good condition for a 2004, is it worn in rotation or are you just very careful?

I maybe don't wear it as much as a couple of other watches I have, but it does get its share. It's in decent nick because it was serviced 3 years ago after the crown broke off, so it was polished then.

I didn't know anything about watches when I bought it on a visit to Andorra, just that my dad had a Certina from the 70s that I'd always liked. In retrospect, I'm glad I chose it, it's a very decent watch.

    Here is mine a DS-8.

Lovw the design and the high spec quartz movement, but I can't really deal with it being brown ..

Anyone got a grey they want to swap for it?

Can't fault this one at all though it's not getting worn much now so possibly on the way out shortly.

Slightly off topic , but my first car was also a Cortina ....mk3 coke bottle shape. Can still remember the registration TNB846K 1971. It was 7 years old and a total rot box! Held together with plastic padding and fibreglass. Anyway ....back to watches....

Very good quality and value but be prepared to take a big hit if you sell. It took over six weeks to move mine on and I lost a lot of money on a watch with under two months wear.

    I had the Multi8 for a while

It had some very useful travel features (like T1 - T2 swap) and was well put together.

Sorry we may have gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick, I merely introduced the ''Cortina'' as a play on words, I have nothing against Certina watches, my bad apologies all round.

This was my DS Action Titanium Diver. I bought it because I was looking for a grey-dial Ti watch. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it but I never really bonded with it, so moved it on to someone else on the forum...

I have to admit that I know nothing at all about Certina. But this dial strikes so much like IWC .

Bought mine off SC. Great watch, very well made and wearing mine a lot.

My Dad bought an Automatic Certina watch, in Zurich in the '60s, and wore it everyday for the rest of his life.

I still have it, lovely watch, and as good, if not better, than contemporary Omegas.

I think they are more popular in Europe where their marketing has a higher profile, through their association with Rallying and Skiing.

Friend of mine wears one of these day to day, and a Daytona for best.

That's the one that is currently on my grab list. Silver dial though. On eBay for £496 at the moment. Will wander past Dipples this evening and see what they have them for. Like the moon phase on that one.

I don't own this, but something about it is really appealing to me, and it is so far from my usual tastes you wouldn't believe.

Funny enough I've just been on a different thread saying how I miss it!
Anyway it's in sound ownership and I've spotted some great strap choices you've paired with it.

Thanks Mark, absolutely love wearing it... It fulfills the spec of a diver and looks great for casual or more formal wear. A few positive comments on it's looks too.

My Brother has this One, worn every day.
    He rates it.
Has been back twice in the 5 years he's owned it though.

Some lovely pieces there. The bracelet for my DS-8 has come in today so I'm going to collect it later. That'll make it way more wearable for me as I'm not a leather fan (unless handmade).

Look a bit like Tissots. Just did a search and they are both owned by Swatch. That explains it. Look nice though.

If I understand correctly, without Certina, Swatch would never have existed

Now that is simply stunning. Does anyone make something like that today?
Certina are on my radar, especially with the precidrive Quartz movement.
Unfortunately they don't seem to have a presence in NZ. I have business trip to Paris in a few weeks, but their website suggests that they don't have any dealers there either. Does anyone here know different?
