Don't get me started on the idiots who mis-space, add bolt heads etc.. etc.. - tragic tat.
You're not being a grump. Most of the plates on this thread are beyond shit!

I'm pretty sure that I've seen the Carrera GT around Cambridge a number of years back. He has had it for a while?

What did you think of The Enzo to drive?

  10. #310
Yes, Arash Farboud, who either lives in the middle of Cambridge, or half way out towards Duxford. He's had it from new ( ? 2006)

The Enzo was flipping frightening to drive. But very exciting.

3 miles to the wedding, £1million pound car, groom in passenger seat having kittens.

not exactly a Chris Harris test drive ....... !

    Sorry, no.
What you actually saw was "OYE 5".
Badly spaced and so not good.
If it was badged as an SLK 320 that was also a fail as it's an SLK 250 diesel.

The thread title is about "a good" plate and so I'm calling out badly spaced and otherwise sh*t stuff, IMHO.
I do appreciate my view of sh8te pl8tes is n0t unila11AR1Y accepted, but I'm OK with that.

I'm perfectly happy to entertain other views.

Well one mans good plate is another mans good plate!

Think most people here know how plates are supposed to be spaced so no idea who you are trying to entertain?

    Entertain?

I accept that what I think is a decent plate - i.e. a 993 Porsche with a matching 993 plate, (brilliant), is very different from something that needs mis-spacing with bolts and a hell of a lot of imagination.

The DVLA is chuffed that I'm not their target market, I'm sure

    A good plate ...

Was in SINGH S1 NGH that fetched a ridiculous amount of money a few years ago? That is a mis-spaced plate, yet it sold for more than your average car and then some, so clearly mis-spacing a plate does not automatically make a plate shit.

    That is a mis-spaced plate
Not as you have quoted it, (S1 NGH)

My view is that changing the placement of spacing/bolts/number shapes or indeed anything else automatically does indeed make it sh*t.
S1 NGH properly spaced then , would be great, (although it doesn't appear to be taxed or on the MID).

Of course. He's the guy who made his own supercar isn't he? That takes me back (Pistonheads).

Even pootling along, I bet that was an experience driving the Enzo.

That is why I put it up as an owner would and the correct spacing. I'm perfectly aware of how it is supposed to be displayed. And according to we buy any car, it's currently sitting on a black Audi A8

I remember the DVLA selling Y110NNE at one of their auctions. It sold for £11k IIRC.

The only way to make it work is by tilting the two ones to make a V but clearly the DVLA were quite happy with this.

I was overtaken on the M3 the other day by a blue Lamborghini Gallardo with the plate "1234 GO". Got a chuckle from me and no dodgy spacing required!

Having seen it a few days ago it reminded me that T1CKS is often around Cardiff area currently on an Evoque. Seen plenty of D1CKS too mostly driving Mercs.

Nice plate but showing as registered to a BMW 116d M Sport...?
Tried to think what the plate actually was, 123AGO isn't coming up either... Any ideas?

Yeah I looked it up too and spotted the same thing. Definitely a Gallardo. I thought maybe it was 1234 GD but that draws a blank. Not sure!

I do sometimes wonder if a person who has actually seen the plate can’t read it then what chance does ANPR have?

I’m not generally a fan of these, especially when they are illegally spaced or indecipherable. However, I did like one near me when I was a yoof - BAL 521T. The plate was legal, but he had a sticker in the window to make it clear, “BAL5 2 IT”.

Someone else has already mentioned the ‘BATMAN’ Lambo is often seen around Nottingham. Nice, but I’m not sure what the actual registration is.

One more that has stuck in my memory was spotted whilst Sri Lanka were playing at Trent Bridge some years ago. I can’t remember what the car was, but the plate read CEY10N.

Especially crap if they have to provide window sticker translation.

I'm not hugely keen on using numbers as letters (unless it is a 1 or an 0 which seem acceptable). But just seen F4UST on a black Mercedes (it looked spaced legally, but was clear that it read Faust). It appealed to me as I enjoyed, as a youngster, the story of Faust making a pact with the devil. Whether it is a good plate or not is a matter of opinion, but I didn't class it as a crap plate at least.

    A good plate ...

Saw an A5 with THE 600D earlier on the M25 and it looked alright to me.

Alas the 100% tool driving it lane swapping at speed before swerving across 3 lanes for his exit made him memorable for all the wrong reasons. 148bhp version on checking suggests he’s lacking.

Missed the tacky merc wannabe AMG style plate this morning, but was waiting to swerve around parts of his car after he ran out of race track ‘talent’

Not really. With the illegal spacing it would be quite a funny plate and easy to see as is the case with most private plates.
There is (or was) a 4x4 local to me that had LO04 LET as it’s number plate. Spaced like that it’s just another plate, but he had it LO0 4 LET. On the side of the 4X4 was advertising for his portable loo company. Pretty clever.

Porsche had THE 928S on their 928S press car back in the day and I used to have THE 850Y on an old Polo.

If only it didn’t have the 5.....

I did some machining of various bits and bobs for Arash. I think that was for the first car he developed using the Audi V6 twin turbo engine.
I then did a bit more on the next version.
I did go to his 'garage' in Cambridge. He had some nice cars in there!
Nice guy too, what's he up to now?

It would make a nice pair with IB 1, originally local to me and the first registration number ever issued in County Armagh, in 1903. Last seen on a BMW.

Interesting. I'm a plate Nazi. It looks correctly spaced to me.
Seems Ok other than meaning nothing to anyone other than the owner.
