A good plate?
Do people desperately crave subtle attention from every passer by and passing motorist?
It is like personalising your corpie house with cladding and an add on front porch.

After photographing St Mary's Hill, Stamford, Lincs., UK, I noticed the Stamford Music Shop van's plate.

Recently spotted on a plumber's Transit van. Rather surprised it slipped by the DVLA censors.
New plate arrived today

We had to take our Merc to the garage a few days ago, it is a specialist Mercedes garage who (also) specialise in servicing SLR’s.
Outside was an SLR with the plate of ‘1 WON’. I wondered which was more, the plate or the car…
The owner also told us the story of an SLR that they were changing the plugs on, a full engine out task that costs £17k. The owner had air freighted the car in from Southern France at a cost of £11k each way, with a total cost of £39k for a change of plugs…
Apparently this was still cheaper than the same job at the Goodwood SLR official Mercedes dealer…
Seen locally Yesterday
Surprised the DVLA let that one through the vetting....

Just seen 356 GT on a silver Speedster. Now I couldn’t tell a kit from a real one from a pass at a junction but it did look really lovely. I’d real must be a fortune.
This remarkable plate on an unremarkable motorised roller skate belongs to a neighbour in my village in Malta.
The back story is that the plate was originally acquired several years ago by the owner’s late husband (RIP Freddie) who was a mad crazy Beatles fan. Maltese born and bred but Liverpool and a pilgrimage to the Beatles Museum was his destination of choice for his annual holiday.
The system for acquiring personalised number plates here is quite unique. Anyone can apply to the government for any combination of numbers and letters up to a maximum of 9 characters. Anything spelling out words considered offensive will be rejected, but if the combination is acceptable the number plate then goes into a sort of auction, with a starting bid of €1500, in which any interested person can bid the price up. This is one of the more interesting plates out there.

I don’t think BEATLES can be a legal plate as written (even ignoring the obvious spacing issue).
Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
No picture, but saw 1 NHS on a Range Rover yesterday.
I believe it may make them using the lanes more acceptable to the public who won’t notice that the taxi sign says VIP. I am pretty sure it wouldn’t fool the cameras, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they had an agreement with London authorities if they effectively use them.Presumably they use a taxi for an executive car so that they can (illegally) use bus lanes.
Having said that many private individuals have bought a cabby second hand. It’s an ideal vehicle for a Vip, loads of room for 5 people if needed, turns around on a sixpence and are as inconspicuous as possible

Michael O'Leary of Ryanair had a taxi business with just one car (fitted with a taximeter) to allow him to use bus lanes in Dublin.

Several well-known people have used cabs as personal vehicles for anonimity: Sid James, dear, dear Larry O & the late queen's husband, Philip.
Nubar Gulbenkian was the daddy though -

He had some lovely other cars too -

I believe that arrangements are possible, even if it involves paying a «*fine*» for a year, especially if you are a large employer and such a contributor to the town’s economy. You think that ‘execs’ have an arrangement to use bus lanes?
