Its pretty sad really that we worry what other people think about something as trivial as a number plate, fortunately at my age I don't give a flying fig what others would think

I'm just jealous that those younger than me can remember their number plate. Unfortunately at my age I need to have the same plate I've had since I was young so I can recall what it is.

I change my name by deed poll to my licence plate whenever I get a new car. Much cheaper.

Several years ago I registered to bid on the DVLA auction site with a view to buying PW58 , I had a figure of £5k in mind. Bidding went v. quickly and surpassed my figure in seconds!

In hindsight I’m glad I didn’t win it, I’ve grown beyond these things and frankly I’d feel like a dick driving around with a fancy number plate like this. Maybe its an age thing, but the less attention I attract the better, I’m happy to fly under the radar when I’m out and about.

There are loads of drivers who drive with PW58 plates without feeling like a dick. Mind, they didn’t fork out £5k + for the privilege.

    Why on a car?
Get t-shirts printed with PW58 (or whatever) far cheaper.

A neighbour used to have N1GEL on his Diablo. Believe it's now on his Tesla, think he's been guilt tripped out of petrol cars by the family :(

My wife has a plate starting "MR5" and then her initials.

I saw TZ 1 a few years ago on a poverty spec Jag XF and remember thinking it would suit a certain wristwatch manufacturer and internet forum owner. I assume it belongs to the wife of a prominent local businessman who's had UZ 1 on his various Rolls Royce over the years.

Just checked and TZ 1 is now on a 2016 VW Polo, so no doubt a case of the plate being worth more than the car.

No picture as someone was in it at the time but I saw "MB 1" on a dark coloured Rolls Royce Silver Seraph outside work yesterday. Previously owned by Max Bygraves and purchased by Regtransfers for £100k in 1998 according to their site so probably worth a fair bit now...

Ok, someone help me. I don’t understand the reference.

Edit: never mind. I’m guessing you mean engine capacity.

What is this a reference to ?

Think that is the Sales Lady from Broden Lloyd in Barrowford. She had it on a Range Rover when she came to price up our house. One look at the reg made my mind up who to go with………….not Broden L. Had to laugh her car was so big she couldn’t get it down our drive :)

(The boys from Biffy Clyro have houses locally. No idea if it's one of them, though!)
