Spotted this today. The plate on its own would be meaningless but with the ad in the back window it works, sort of.

I don't have a photo as I was drIving, but I recently saw HE11 YH G (spaced illegally like that) which as an old hip hop fan, tickled me. I didn't pay much attention to the car, perhaps an M2 or the like.

    There’s a couple of decent ones I’ve seen in the last couple of days;

1 KUT on a transit van, presumably a gardener, and

2 SLY on an Audi A5

    The rear's the best angle.

The front & side elevation are much worse IMO.

    That is a great plate.

Saw B777 today - don’t see many 1 letter 3 number like that.

    Just ramblings...

it's occurred to me that even basic dateless (non NI) plates have become rather expensive recently. The sold prices on the DVLA auction sites (to which buyers premiums, VAT and transfer fees need to be added) suggests that people are actually willing to pay the money.

Plates to disguise the age of a vehicle could be had few a couple of hundred pounds and the price only seemed to go up with distinct names or initials. Now, even the simplest 3 letter/3 number will be well over £1000 and anything interesting or shorter is in the multiple thousands.

What's sparked this thinking is that around the Cotswolds there seem to be a lot of more mature drivers in inexpensive city cars with reg plates that are likely now worth more, perhaps many times more, than the car itself.

And I'm still regretting not having the spare cash to buy 69 GYP when it was £600 in the back of exchange and mart :-(

I'm still disappointed at not being able to afford HEW1T at the first or second DVLA number plate auction that was held back in the day. I got to £3.5k and tapped out, it went for £5,250.

I suspect that at £5250 it would have been a good investment.

I keep looking for low cost 2-letter plates for my lad, but alas that ship has sailed.

That's a cheap NI plate, don't know why anyone would bother on that car. It's like putting a Rolex on a NATO strap.

That could be a very personal personal plate for someone in an oil business with a birth date of 2/4/62.

I have GIG 2262 on a bike I picked up which will hopefully be sold to a 61 year old musician at some point.

    Edit : or a gigolo!
