    Rolex SD43 availability

    Hi folks,

I'm very interested in taking a look at an SD43, and it's pretty likely I will go for it. How are folks here getting on with availability? Best to put myself on a list?

The only place I tried so far was my local Fraser Hart, who said their list was "closed".

I'm in Twickenham, but frequently venture into central London, Surrey, Heathrow, Birmingham.

    Cheers,
    Tom

I'd add yourself to some lists.

They do seem pretty hard to get hold of. You could get one from a grey dealer but will need to pay a premium.

UK sports availability is shocking just now and SD43 is near the top of the desirability list.

    No chance at goldsmiths brum
I was told was second on list
    Alas there is no list
I understand the system it's chicken and egg
But the manager did some digging and agreed I'd bought quite a lot if brand new non discounted watches a few years ago

I think it's like quite a few SS Rolex, supply is short and demand is high. The way to get one is to put yourself out there, lots of calls, visits to AD's and persistence. People do get the deep sea blue, hulk and BLNR for example, 5% of them might just be lucky but 95% have to do a bit of leg work. I'd imagine the SD43 being the same for a while as its new and quite in demand at the moment.

    Yes thanks, I just replied.

Appreciate the advice. Going to make some phone calls tomorrow and see if I can find one to try.

Tried around 15 ADs in the last couple of days, managed to get on one list with a dealer I've got history with. Almost everyone else said they had "hundreds" of names and no hope of filling orders. Many had not even had a single SD43 in yet.

Looks like I'll be waiting a while to see one in the flesh. Unfortunately, I'm not confident enough to buy blind... although it seems resale would not be an issue.

Easy to get in the far East if you are heading to Thailand any time.

Do you know how much the SD43 would be in Thailand?

At least the same as here including the tax when you return.

Lots available from independent dealers in Tokyo (seriously, a 10 minute walk around the watch shops just in Nakano will surface a dozen or more. One small shop there had 3 in the window last time I was in the area).

Prices depending on condition/age (not much variation obviously for it's quite a new model) were between JPY1.3 and JPY1.5m (GBP9 ~ 10.5K) including the 8% sales tax which a tourist could reclaim.

Was reading on TRF about some feeling the hysteria is cooling off in the US after a chap said he strolled in to find one in stock. Maybe we won't be far behind! Maybe when the next new one comes out soon, skydweller is it?
