    1967 Submariner - service recommendation

Hi, could anyone give me a recommendation for service of a 67 sub please? I have done a search and have some names but reputations, etc can and do change over time.
    Many thanks
    Will

Two repairers who get very good reviews on this forum for Rolex are:-

    William Rice in Hull http://www.williamricewatches.com/index.php

and Duncan at Genesis Watchmaking http://www.genesiswatchmaking.co.uk/index.html

I'm sure other members who've used their services will chime in with more info.

Have only used Bill Rice and he was excellent, his turnaround was about 4 weeks and the workmanship was impeccable.

William Rice did a service on an early 70's Tudor Sub I had and no complaints from me.
Rolex accredited and turned around in a timely manner.

Thank you. Certainly Duncan was top of my list from what I've read.

Stephen Hale in London completed a fantastic job on my watch last year...

I`ve dealt with Bill Rice a few times; when I started doing watch work he gave me lots of tips and advice too. Top man in my opinion, nice guy to deal with.

He is also sympathetic to older watches. Only replaces what is needed and gives you the old parts back for originality sake.

    As does 'thewatchbloke', Duncan Hewitt.

Were it mine, I would send it to RSC with request that visible parts, i.e. dial hands, bezel etc. be left unmolested.

Sent my Sub to RSC for service a couple of years ago with specific request that they did not polish it and they were happy to oblige.

Put my SD into the RSC. They wanted to send it to Geneva for refurb.....at a cost of £10k plus. SHWR (recommended to me by RSC) charged £1400.....

Why? Do they still service 1967's at AD's anyway?

How much was done to the watch and how much did they charge? (if you don't mind sharing)

    I have a 1985 5513 sub that needs work.

Standard Rolex service pricing - only part they replaced was the original crown (that was apparently needed despite my protests). They gave me the original back - and as its a daily wearer - and will be years to come actually glad I did. No case polish etc. Overall pleased and also gives a nice "authenticity tick" should I ever need to sell it

I've read this a few times in recent years. Is there a cut off date for watches that fall into this category?
I thought it was only specific watches but maybe the age is a factor as well.
How will this reflect the second hand value of a watch sent and confirmed as genuine thats going to cost you £10k.
A £20k watch is now going to be a £30k one?

Mine is from 1978. I do not think that the RSC cost would have made any significant difference to the watch value. A genuine watch is still genuine.....and has been serviced properly by a recognised specialist.

Guess not but a Rolex service does have added value
