    Rotary Water Resistance

I was looking at a Rotary watch the other day as I need something readable and solid and waterproof for my Dad's birthday.

he wont appreciate expensive, in fact would be horrified.

Not expensive i know but... The water resistance doesn't give you a benchmark. 100m etc.

The one I saw was a "dive watch" and had a screw down crown. The Rotary Website didnt help much either.

    Any advice folks?

I don't recall seeing a depth rating on a Rotary watch, however with the "Dolphin Standard" or whatever they call it and the screw down crown I'm sure it'd be good for 100m.

Water PROOF rather than water RESISTANT on the back suggests it's better than most of the cheaper stuff, and I know they guarantee their watches against water ingress, or at least they used to. In fact if it has a screw down crown I'd be almost certain it's 100m minimum.

I'm pretty sure that all Rotary's 'waterproof' watches are effectively equivalent to the WR100m rating.

I'd go Citizen Eco Drive, something like this, can be picked up cheaper elsewhere too.

The titanium eco drives with sapphire are worth a look too if a little more expensive, but older folks seem to love them, light, tough and maintanance free.

Unless he's actually a diver and he likes the style it will be absolutely fine.
