SMITHS "BLACK SHADOW" - PRS-38 ... alternative strap and where made?

I am looking for a spare, backup watch while my Sinn goes away for service. I rather like the SMITHS "BLACK SHADOW" - PRS-38. It says "Great Britain" on the dial, but I wondered where they are actually made?

I also wanted to ask if people have tried alternative straps with this watch? I have my hands in water a lot at work and I doubt a leather strap would survive for long.

My PRS-38 lives on one of Eddie's 2-piece nylon straps with a black butterfly clasp from Holben's (but I don't think it was either of the two types they are selling now).
