Seems they're in every Omega boutique in London. The colours are a bit more muted in real life but it still looks like a lucky bag watch.

Take away the ridiculous second hand and the NATO and it's really not so bad.

Not that I'd buy it, but for a youthful summery take on the SMP it would be ok.

That's a nice looking watch. The second hand doesn't add anything to the design, but that dial is really cool.

The website claims the strap to be based on Royal Navy colours - which is complete rubbish. The classic RN design is very dark navy with a single narrow red and white stripe. Much classier - but wouldn't rescue this from being an abomination.

My next "big purchase" was gonna be an Omega but having seen this pile of rubbish and the endless stream of LE speedys has put me off somewhat.

Oddly i like the watch except for the second hand and the bullshit on the back. Nothing wrong with a splash of colour.

The watch is not great but the marketing is cringeworthy in the extreme.

"The Commander's Watch" - seriously??! How on earth did that name ever get approved at Omega head office?!

    Can you imagine:
"What's that new watch you're wearing?"
    "It's the Commander's Watch"
    'Sorry, you what??!"

The packaging and marketing blerb are toe curlingly embarrassing as well. It's like some awful cliched foreign view of what's considered "cool" or "sophisticated" in Britain'.

I think it looks a lot better in the flesh, ditch the 007 hand and it's not bad imho.

Omega's marketing guys might not be so foolish as many think. This watch looks like the above which is very popular with a younger and trendy public that has no connection whatsoever with the WIS-world. They might be the target group for this as Omega might be trying to find a new clientele for their watches. As many of these youngsters go to the cinema Omega gambles this watch will appeal to them more than the traditional Seamasters. Ofcourse they know that many existing clients don't like it. Maybe they have struck gold with it, time will tell.

I'd like to try it on with the bracelet attached. That might tone it down a tad...

Edit. After looking at the pictures on ABTW (and the one on the other page) with the bracelet attached, I really like it. I'll definitely be trying it on.

Never understood and never will 'theme' watches unless they are commissioned and envisaged as a gift/award.

Anything like 007, 'limited', 'special edition' or other nonsense plastered anywhere on the watch is plain silly. YMMV.

I have posted this elsewhere so apologies if you see it twice but I was a fly on the wall at the original design meeting for this watch. The conversation mentioned:

Red, White and Blue colourways accented with naval rank motif. Ladies and Gentleman I give you the Omega Kevin Keegan!

For some reason they bottled it and made up some tenuous Bond rubbish instead. Bond being half Scottish, half Swiss wasn't even eligible to play for England!

Bizarrely, by using this tenuous terminology, Omega have managed to copy a company who were doing a ripoff of one of their other watches:

    The Commander 300

Omega could potentially ease the criticism by including another strap in the set.

Probably 'Commander' is one of those new bits of slang the kids are using that no one understands. As in, 'Look, he's wearing that stupid watch again' - 'Yeah, he's a complete Commander'.

My A.D. told me today that he'd already sold "a number" of these ahead of delivery. I said I doubted it, unless that number was zero. But he promised the interest in it had been "significant". And I just don't believe it. I know people have different tastes but, surely not?

All that blurb about "British Royal Navy " , more like an insult. Proper cheesy big time. Made for the yanks/tastless countries is it?

When you think of all the brilliant watches omega have made as well.....

Indeed, it seems that they're finally accepting — nay, embracing — their place as a watchmaker that mostly isn't to be taken too seriously. And as long as the pricing reflects this, it's probably for the best. :)

The main issue with this watch is the absurd marketing.

The actual watch is just a novelty polar colourway with an on-trend summer Nato strap. Tudor gave us the white Heritage Chrono a couple of years ago which seemed to go down very well and fundamentally this Omega is just following that vibe. Drop the 007 guff, the limited edition twaddle and tidy up some details and it's this summers watch.

As it is I hate it intensely.

Of course, their natural habitat is the American suburb, so the company car will more likely be some bloated Ford/Chevy monstrosity, but the principle's the same. :)

There was talk a while back about making impersonating an ex-serviceman and wearing medals you didn't earn a criminal offence. Handing out a fake medal ribbon like the one included here may be a little unwise and tasteless then.

Saw one for the first time and as others have said, it's less garish in real life. A bit of a mistake to oversaturate the picture on the website to 'make the red really pop', it's a bit more subtle than that. In fact, the colours are almost exactly the same as a Rolex GMT bezel, though the effect is less pleasing. I wouldn't wear one personally, but it looks less like a toy and more like a watch in person.
