Changed two straps last night. Changed them back. Agonised over the MM300 on SC. Checked new turtle on Watchtracker. Went to bed happy...

After a quiet day at work I got home to any empty house and thought I'd take the opportunity of some peace and quiet to sort through a few bits before my wife and children arrived home. Every once in a while I like to take stock, get everything out, look at watch/strap combinations, unpack the tools and spare straps and just, well, potter. So I've:
- bagged up a couple of straps my brother might like for his Panerai.
- measured the fixed lug widths for an old 1920s BWC gold-cased tonneau watch and decided that a dark blue open ended 16mm croc strap would work well with the blued hands.
- ordered an 18mm brown croc-effect strap for my 1963 (I think) Roamer.
- put my Rolex 16700 back into storage and selected my IWC Spitfire chrono.
- dug out my Turtle re-issue beater/casual watch.
- put everything away again.
- cooked dinner for the family.
I'm now sitting on the sofa wearing both the IWC and SRP779 (on my right wrist - just to wind it, obviously) with a bottle of ale and browsing on here, and feeling very content.
Does anyone else enjoy pottering with their collection?

Yes. I can happily lose an evening to a good potter.
I need to clean out my parts box which is hitting critical mass.
I'm also going to change bracelets on a watch returning from service on Sunday which will give me the opportunity to sort which free range links go with what. Organisational dream.
It's sad but satisfying.
Love a good potter. Normally happens when the wife and kids have gone to her parents and I have gotten out of going.
Usually a case of getting all of them out, change some straps around to see if I can spark some new life into any of the ones I haven't worn in a while and then give each one a detailed clean and put them all away. I'll then not say a word of the event to anyone and maintain my coolness 😎

Sure do.. I need to switch over my X-33 to GB strap for the summer. And will probably need to size up the FF bracelet tomorrow. But mostly I need to get the big camera out for some photo shoots
I do it often. It is almost therapeutic:-)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wears 2 watches at home!!!!! My wife and kids think I'm mental....
Bliss, wish I could do it more often. I've learned that springbars are bugger to find in the evening.

Normally sit at my desk and have the watch drawer open when I feel like pottering through my small collection. Might wear several in a short while just because!

Sadly I would also potter. I take all out of the safe, perhaps a polish with a soft cloth, change straps on my PAMs, just enjoy looking at them.
Note to self. Must get out more...

I love a good watch collection potter too. Usually on a Sunday. Change a few straps, clean a few up, take a few pics for IG and play with the chronographs. Absorbing and therapeutic!
