What do you think of this for a Speedy?

I think that the vintage look really suits it.

As mentioned previously Speedmasters seem to lend themselves to just about any strap design.

I really want to like bracelets and every now and then give them another try - I just cant get on with them though.

I wear my SMPc daily on its bond bracelet, but Speedy's look best on leather IMO

Ive put the various items that came with mine in a more conveniently sized box. The 'moon watch' booklet contains some nice photos.

As regards the case, wooden box and sleeve - Ive put them on eBay.

That's an interesting concept Ian, when people on here obsess about box and papers. Does that mean that if you ever sell the watch, it will just come with the red cards and effectively nothing else or would you include the goodies in your picture.

I will keep all the extra bits together and sell them with the watch if I ever flip it.

It will be interesting to see whether the enormous box and case sell on eBay and for how much!

I am not a collector so the whole box, hang tags and stickers thing is quite beyond me. I buy a watch to wear it.

Someone on here sold the box and bits (on SC I think), as it was a keeper.... they then sold the speedy shortly after, without box etc... can't remember exactly how he got on - perhaps he'll be along shortly!

For me, it seems like madness to split the set for a couple of hundred pounds when you've spent c.£3k on the watch.

I wouldn't mind a "standard" speedie now if I'm honest.

I actually like the extras that come with the moon watch. Technically some pointless: the paperweight they is not heavy, the huge suitcase box etc...also whether they are actually ever used. But lovely as a show off piece to and maybe add value in a few years?

Love that second photo! Gosh I love applied logos.

I'd swap the big presentation case for an applied logo on the modern hesalite speedy in a second...

    Anyway, just posted this in the Friday thread, but I'll put it here too - lume "fully charged" and glowing brightly;

    Good call.

Here was my first Speedmaster bought from a dealer in 2015. I paid over the odds considering private prices but got my money back when I traded it in.

    A lovely little watch.

Downsides for me were the height of the case relative to the width and the fact that the pushers weren't in line with the crown - I do realise why they are like that though.

Also, another pic of my 186.0004 from 1976 - which you probably cant see from my post on page 1 as photobucket is broken again!

Lovely collection you have there, still not seen any 3520.50.00 or its variations or 3210.50.00 variations, seems those speedmasters and the new racing ones by Omega are not very popular here.

Can anyone recommend a good after market deployant for the speedy?

I see a few on eBay but I wondered if anyone has actual experience of one they find good both in looks, functionality and comfort.

I have had a couple of Breitling deployants and hated them - the thickness of the leather and clasp was really bulky and didn't look good, but I believe Omega style deployamts are better (especially on non-leather straps).

The WatchObsession one worked for me and decent value for money. I sold it with my Speedmaster but really I should have held on to it for my Speedy Tuesday.

I am really considering the speedmaster triple date. It is considerably cheaper than the pro, a bit cheaper than the reduced and although it has a busy dial, the complications really appeal to me.
They don't seem to be very popular. Is there a reason for that? Please can a more knowledgeable speedy fan tell me the pros and cons of said watch.

I have one and they don't sit very well on the wrist as they are quite thick considering they are 4mm smaller than the moon watch. My partner uses it as her everyday and loves it though. I would also think carefully regarding servicing as a service could easily cost £500 and the watch is only worth £1000 or so. I think a lot of these get sold when they need a service because of the cost so tread carefully.

    Thank you for your response.
Your partner is a lucky lady.
Would I not be in the same situation with a reduced in terms of servicing costs to watch costs?

Almost joined the speedmaster club the other day! Really like the gold face one and there was one on an auction site needing a repair. Bid in the last few secs but someone obviously wanted it more than I valued it.

  47. #147
Yes you would. Actually looking at the Omega site the price is minimum £520. I'm not sure if the added triple date complication makes it even more. I did actually see a speedy reduced sell for £750 with a rusted movement and a missing bezel!

The triple dates are just modified 7750 movements and not hard to service by independents saving you a decent amount of money. I wouldn't let service cost put you off they are no more expensive than 7750s to service.
Watch Repair channel on youtube has a video of him servicing the omega 1151 triple date

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EKNqqC-f1Y

From ebay I wouldn't pay more than £1200 I think factoring in a service privately at around £300 (webwatchmaker advertises £305 for a auto chrono for instance) Which would get you one running well for £1500 which seems decent.

I'd have been doing the work myself anyway and spares seem easily available. By the sounds of it the problem wasn't that drastic but I'm assuming someone else who was willing to do the job themselves or a dealer bought it. They sell for around £1500 and this one went for £1150 I think so I did think it would be a lot of someone sent it to omega when there's one for £1500 BIN

    Great information thanks.
This may be the option to go. I would love to contribute to this thread with a newly acquired Speedy Pro but unfortunately I just don't think I could justify the cost. This is why i'm now looking at the automatics as an option.
