I saw one of those at Gatwick airport a couple of years back and was very tempted. Very very nice.

Woohoo - GGBs arrived today - wearing the 1.5 (I think it's called) now as I didn't realise the main one requires the spring bars to be removed to fit the head into the strap!

Anyway they certainly appear heavier, thicker and more substantial than the Kizzi (which I still love).

    Great news!

    But where are the pictures?

I think that it must be an SPV3 as this is the only one that threads through the back without you needing to remove the spring bars.

Comfiest strap I have ever worn, on any watch, bar none. Love it. Kudos Carl.

Same one as I bought for my Speedie Pro (bar a different patch), they really are wonderfully comfortable.

I missed the GGB sale window because I forgot about it surely all of them require removal of the spring bars - to take the bracelet off

Shopping in Valletta, Malta (as you do), browsing all the watch shops, a Speedy Pro (metal bracelet) is €4800 !!!!!!! (£4,300) and that's from an AD. Had a chat with the sales guy and showed him UK prices. He had no explanation as to why his prices were so high.

I want a spare bracelet for my 2014 speedmaster professional but not sure of the best place to buy and get a good deal!

Any ideas? I have some natos and a couple of canvas natos from watchstrapson but I like bracelets. Don't want to ruin my original as it was a wedding gift.....

The original should last easily 15-20 years and probably much longer. It can be brought back to new looking by any number of watchmakers so my advice would just be to use your original bracelet and enjoy the wabi it gets along the way!

I know it has a long life ahead of it....I plan on having it forever and handing it down. How do they get the scratches out? I don't want it to be polished....

Suppose I'm just being precious about it!

I'm not sure exactly how they do it but they polish the polished parts and brush the brushed parts.

How much more sentimental value is it going to have if it's been used rather than sat pristine in its box?

Each to his own but it doesn't really make sense to me.

True, I hear you. Love it best on the strap as well. Although, the canvas looks good

When I buy mine (hopefully in the next few weeks), I will be selling the bracelet. PM me if you are interested in buying it.

When I had my '67 SPeedy I had it on one of those, and I didnt like it - too stiff and the lug gaps too large.

There's quite a long lead time on these straps from Stewart, but by all accounts worth the wait. Should be with me around the start of September.

What strap length would you recommend for a 7" wrist?

When showing my Alaska to the guys at Omega on Thursday - the first thing they said was 'Nice strap!' - so kudos for the Kizzi.

Nice write up - but the 'NASA guy goes to local jeweller to buy watches' is incorrect. In fact NASA asked for submissions from 10 watchmakers, only 4 replied!!! Rolex did not supply a Daytona. As is well known the Speedie was the only watch to pass, and it was also the Astronaughts choice, (an important part of the evaluation process) as they also evaluated the watches in use, the Speedie was the easiest to use.

    Full details here:

    http://www.watchprosite.com/?page=wf...pzt=1456703651

It's amazing that 6 watchmakers passed up on the chance to supply watches to NASA.

Omega, Rolex, Longines and Hamilton replied to the request. Hamilton proposed a pocket watch - which didn't fulfil the requirements for a wristwatch, so only 3 models were tested.

Regardless of the way the watches were selected, it's still a great read and brilliant background info on Ed White.
