    The TZUK Speedmaster Thread

    The TZUK Speedmaster Thread

The Omega Speedmaster is an iconic watch, and a forum favourite so how about a single thread dedicated specifically to photos of this watch, in all its variations?

The standard Speedy pro is also famously versatile, so examples of all the different straps TZUKers have tried would be great for inspiring others.

I'll start by sharing two of my Speedmasters made 50 years apart; the first a 1967 cal.321 145.012, sadly now gone to another TZUKer. The second is the current standard Speedy with hesalite and giant presentation case (ref. 311.30.42.30.01.005), from 2017.

    Here's how the new Speedmaster Professional "moonwatch" is now presented as standard - if only all luxury watches came with such plush packaging and presentation;

    So TZUK let's see yours!

Whilst its a well liked watch, I'm still hanging out for the ''Smiths'' chronograph, hopefully our host will eventually come good.

That new box and assorted guff looks well over the top for a tool watch IMO.

I have always been a Speedy fan, if interested you can see my lot by clicking on the link in my sig.

Site's a bit old now so be prepared to crank the handle a bit!
    Cheers,
    Neil.

I've heard this on here a lot, but I for one appreciate the presentation set and it does feel special.

I agree. Personally I think the packaging of a watch is crucial as it's all part of the experience.

    Get off.

This is what you got for your $195 back in the day.

    Classy.

    Didn't need a suitcase.

    Cheers,

A few different strap combinations with a Speedmaster Broad Arrow. I tend to wear this one far more than the Moonwatch Speedmaster.

The Mark IV has gone but the others are still there waiting for the Speedie Tuesday to arrive. After that, I'm going for a Soyuz meteorite dial.

David M Robinson and Goldsmiths in Liverpool both had them in the window last week and Iconic has it listed as 'in stock' on their website and £600 below RRP.

I see the OP's nice new Speedmaster packaging and raise it with this - the packaging provided with my 2007 50th Anniversary edition. :D

Just put a new strap on the Apollo XV that I had custom made by Steveo Straps. Thought I'd share!

Love the pre moon. Is the polished finish how they were original? I ask as mine is so bashed up it's impossible to tell!

It's a paperweight, but it's more for show as it's surprisingly thin and light. I guess it'd hold down a couple of pieces of paper if it wasn't too windy!

    Still, it looks nice!

It is supposed to be a paperweight but depending on who packages up the Kit from my experience, it seems to become an in the box discus with its sole intention of trying to smash the watch up during delivery .

Bought twice online and had to return because of the paperweight smacking the speedy during transit.

A bit like an integral bracelet but in leather. Reason to ask is that I reckon it look brilliant on a MKII

Di Modell Rallye with orange stitch, it's a nice combination. I rather like that image as it shows Speedmasters on bracelet, leather, kevlar and velcro.

Thank you for that and even better I've realised the DiModel Chronisimo has the notched lugs I was looking for and is also extremely well rated.

Something I didn't spot on mine until yesterday was the etched omega symbol on the hesalite, right in the centre...

Congrats on your Tintin! One of my favourite Speedies! Tried several straps on it:

Top is a Hirsch Grand Duke, bottom is the OEM rally strap on Omega deployant.

    Enjoy!

On a plain brown leather, not an expensive strap and didn't think I'd bond with it. But now love it as it gives the watch a military look whilst saving the Bracelet further wear.

Get down to Iconic - must only be down the road from you. Goldsmiths and David M Robinson in Liverpool both had one last week - but don't pay RRP. Iconic is the best bet now that Ryan cannot supply. £2.9k and in stock!!

Well, yes. But you also get a factory fresh watch from an authorised dealer who has formal links with Omega; and you don't get a watch from 'somewhere in Europe' sold by a firm with no links to Omega...or any other brand. On top of which you can get a good discount from many ADs in my experience.
It is not a simple choice. For me a good AD with a fair discount was attractive. For others, a firm like Iconic is preferred. Up to you. Neither route is always better .

Hang on to yours Speedy's lol, just had a call from my AD saying there is no UK stock on also a back order of 84 watches, they also said its unlikely they can get me one for a good few months!

So what is normally a stock watch, is now hard to get, almost like a Rolex Sport Watch from a few months ago! just my luck!

Tried the Manchester Omega Boutique, they want £3520 RRP even though I was paying cash, the Trafford centre Boutique are yes to call back even though I have called them back to remind them

Iconic in Blackburn have one for £2920 for a EU Watch and they wouldn't tell me where from, the first person I called was clueless and the second quite abrupt

I'm gonna Waite till July for the local AD near me to call, I'm a bit cured to be honest Adrian
