This was also at Simon Freese. After major surgery and a service it’s back working as it should.

Great thread and some lovely watches on show.
I've had this birth year '69 transition al model for over 10 years. Seems like yesterday and time certainly flies.
Cheers

Was fortunate to pick up this Apollo 11 30th anniversary model recently from SC and had been looking a long time for one in great condition and within the UK.
The icing on the cake for me is that my date of birth is commemorated on the case back. Thanks Omega!
Cheers

Thought it was but haven’t seen one on a bracelet before.

Who has a speedie moonphase - the original one, with the Lemania hand wind movement...?
I’ve had the thought of one pecking my head for a few years. Had some ale last night and thought sod it, I will just buy one
... and can’t find a decent one anywhere!

Quite fond of a Mark II, myself.
Here's 'Old Grey' in the sunshine.
Hi all,
I’m hoping to tap into the collective speedmaster knowledge base on here.
I am thinking of selling my 71 speedmaster to help fund a collection refresh.
However I am not a prolific seller and I’m struggling to put a value on the watch as prices online vary a fair bit. For reference the watch is a good example no box or papers.
Any advice on its value or pointing me to anyone I can contact to get a value or an idea of value would be appreciated
Thanks
Have been messing about with bracelets to decide what I like best on the Mark II "Old Grey".
I have the original 1162/173, but I'm not mad about the lines on it.
Tried a president, and a 1498, but wasn't delighted with either. However, I do like this.

I managed to negotiate a window with SWMBO and popped into the local Omega AD this afternoon to try the new Speedy Pro.
I’ve had the previous big box hesalite but couldn’t get on with the L2L with the previous versions solid end links on my 7-7 1/4” wrist. Even on a strap I ended up with strap gap which is a real no no for me.
Omega have absolutely nailed the new release. Even without a proper adjustment the new bracelet completely changes the watch fitting on my wrist. Time to start saving!
A few rough and ready pics under harsh AD lighting for your delectation.

Enjoying this old thing. Starting to age just a little.
Just picked up the new 2021 Speedmaster, goes nicely with the 1957.

2 weeks in the ownership of the 2021 Speedy. Absolutely delighted. This must be my 7th and the best after my 105.012 and the 863 on 1450, I owned a few years back (stupidly sold both for not a lot of money ?*??)

The new Speedmaster does tempt me, it seems a lot of very fine watch for the money, these days. However , try as I might, I can’t get on with the metal bracelet. Somehow, they look too big for the watch. A simple nato or leather strap has a better sense of proportion.
Il continue to ponder.....
Fair enough....it’s obviously a personal choice and plenty of buyers go for the bracelet (I believe). But I can’t escape the visual impression that the Speedmaster ‘sits’ more naturally on a NATO. Hardly surprising because that seems to have been the intention of the original design (?).
I also like the sheer variety you get when you can easily change straps. Still, these things will always be difficult choices I suppose.
I’m still wondering whether to buy one....

I just tried a new sapphire sandwich manual wind Speedmaster at an AD. Really nice watch that wears perfectly. Seriously considering adding one to the collection now.
Been enjoying this a lot lately.

Picked up one of the new sapphire+bracelet Speedy Pros yesterday.
I chose this over the hesalite version as I thought it offered something overall a bit more “special” than the dozens of hesalite speedies I’ve owned in the past (and have two of now!).
The dial is lovely in person - very much a step up (haha) from the previous iteration. Lots of details - great matte finish, stepped sundials, applied logo, and down-curved min/sec hands to follow the dial.
Bracelet is of course a triumph, and solves all the issues people have mentioned. That said, you could achieve the same thing via Uncle Seiko or similar (who, incidentally, appears to be releasing a version of this bracelet later this year).
I’m enjoying the sapphire too - gives a different feel and appearance and a less distorted side-view. The sapphire case back is obviously a massive plus, and was my main reason for going for this iteration.
