any options or comments from the experts?
If your birth year is 1985 then that won't work. That has a rhodium plated movement which wasn't introduced until the late 1990s (on model 3572.50 if that is what it is). SL lume too which also indicates late 90s onwards. He has the year very wrong. The dial damage would be a red flag to me also. Find another, that guy doesn't know his arse from his elbow. A new dial would be circa £200 as part of a service so if it is very cheap it could be a decent deal, but it will still be 1997 on.

I don’t currently own a Speedy but if I ever stumbled across a spare 8K or so I’d definitely look in to getting an Alaska Project, one of the best looking watches out there in my opinion.

    Speedmaster Spacemater Z-33

    Here's my Speedmaster Spacemaster Z-33
Titanium. Retro and modern in one. Gets comments - usually positive.
Had it for 18 months and still can't fathom the functions.

Hi henk, it's a crossman 2240 that my late grandfather left me when he passed away, I still shed the odd tear when I get it out to look at, it's very sentimental to me.

Yep, really good quality for the price. They are stiff at first but a bit if manipulation and the form to the wrist nicely.

    What is the third photo?
the one with 125 on it.

Looks very nice and i have not seen that type before.
I imagine from the case it is a 70s release

I think that he meant the 125 in the fourth photo, not the coaxial.

Also bought this set a couple of months ago. Very happy with it. A watch for all occasions. Looks great on the Omega black deployment strap.

    My Speedmaster reduced is broken.

Doesn't work at all (I have wound and wound).

When I shake it, it sounds like something is loose.

I got the following quotes from repair shops in Cardiff - £405, £700 inc clean up.

I can have it serviced through official Omega for £600-£700.

Will Omega's service sort anything wrong with it for that expensive price?

Is it better to just forget this watch? I am guessing they don't sell for much broken.

Just saw 'First Man' about Neil Armstrong and his trip to the moon. There is just one brief shot, with him talking to his wife before the mission, where he appears to be wearing a Speedmaster.
Quite a lot about Ed White in it; excellent film, regardless of watches.

I’ve always fancied a Speedmaster and when reading up on them I discover Ed White’s space walk was on the day I was born! Seems like a purchase is inevitable now.

Since no one else has answered, here are my uneducated views:

Assuming it’s otherwise in reasonable condition, its value (to replace) is in the region of £1200-£1500. I’m sure you’d get several hundred selling as a spares or repair, so it’s a toss up either way. I can’t say how much extra Omega would charge for repairs, but a recent manufacturer service would probably make it more attractive if you wanted to sell.

Ultimately depends on how attached you are to the watch.

My Speedy Pro on a new strap from Pav79. Many thanks to Wadsy for helping to source it and to Pavel for an outstanding strap and service to match. This one is staying as is for a while.

Hi, I keep looking through this thread and really do like the speedmaster pro (all the pics look great!), I think the history and links to nasa are awesome👍for me it would have to be on the bracelet but I love how versatile it is with regards different straps, What kind of discount is realistic? I have seen people getting 20% and more and some members have links to ad's (any in Manchester?) if that's possible I will be getting one👍 cheers
