Thread: Omega Speedmaster moon watch uk discounts?

  1. #1

Omega Speedmaster moon watch uk discounts?

So it’s finally happened I have the craving for the moon watch, I’ve sold a couple of watches and have the money to buy plus change
Do uk stockists do discounts on straight up full paid sales as I see lots of retailers doing interest free deals obviously if no discount it kind of makes sense to take advantage of the interest free offers but would rather get it paid with a discount
If they do a discount who knows the best?

  2. #2
Personally I'd look at a like new in box pre-owned one. New prices have firmed up incredibly in the last 12 months or so - understandably with the anniversary and 2 or 3 price rises.

If you could still get the old discounts then new would be the way to go though.
It's just a matter of time...

The only thing that puts me off is buying a fake, where is best place to buy to know it’s not a fake?

Fake moonwatches are easy to spot. Sub Dial spacing is a mile off.

Is this always the case? It’s scary what they do on the rolex fakes I’m just really paranoid about getting scammed on a copy

Iconic have a few, these are obviously genuine and claim to be discounted. I'm not too up on the RRP these days, but might be worth a look.

I would still hope/expect to get 20%+ off list at your local AD. Just go in and talk to them.

I bought mine less than a year ago - have things really changed that much? I walked in, tried on the watch, said I’d buy if they would give me 20% off and they said yes immediately (damn! Should have asked for more!)

I bought a Constellation for the missus from a boutique and negotiated 14% off, would’ve fancied more from an AD but was fine with that.

These are mass production watches, should always aim at 20%, no harm in asking

Here’s an example found on the Internet

Compare it with the real one. Look at the spacing between the sub dials

If you do want a new one take a flight out of LHR T5. Watches of Switzerland gives vat free discount for flights inside the EU. Equates to 16.67% discount. You don’t have to negotiate, it’s just their price.

Dom Hackett was cheapest when I was looking

I ended up going pre-owned from here. Stick a wtb up and see what's available. Mine was mint. Very happy with it and the saving over new

Just seen how much a moonwatch costs now. Prices for a standard moonwatch have gone mad over the last few years, Omega must be doing well. Or a rising tide lifts all boats... one or the other!

I bought my Sapphire Sandwich last week from the Goldsmith Reading and got 9% plus free Adjustable Seamaster clasp and an End link which will probably equate to around 10%~11%.
I felt I gave in too quickly and could have gotten a touch more.

There is a price rise pending from Omega which is supposedly around the 5% mark, with talk that it is coming in on the 1st Oct. If you can pick one up over the coming days with a discount you will also be saving further on not having the new RRP to contend with.

I second Rob153's advice - I followed it & the buying experience was brilliant.

I’ve emailed Dom Hackett and the shop recommended from Rob so I will be hopefully buying from one of them before the October increase

I think Hackett watches might already have priced in the increase - pretty sure they were £3150 a week ago.

Interesting so in theory they should take £3000? I did get a reply from them but the only discount from the list was a probable £25 if I picked it up not a great discount

13% + a bottle of Aqua Terra EDT at the Leeds boutique. A flat & insulted that I dare ask 'no discount' at the Manchester boutique.

I've heard nothing but praise about Hackett Watches - although I've never actually bought from Dominic (so far), we have exchanged a few emails and he is extremely helpful.

Dom seems pretty firm on the website price even though it was 3150 last week he won’t accept that price from me

That's fair enough. I'm sure he knows the market better than any of us and I'd probably bet that you won't beat his price without some kind of insider help elsewhere.

I paid the same price about 6 weeks ago.....👍

I get 25% but I would not be able to pass it on, unless I bought the watch in my name. I have spent over 100k with the dealer in question. I think 20% of a dealer is definitely obtainable.

I suspect thats because he wouldnt be able to deliver the watch until after 1st October therefore his costs are likely to have risen in line with the price increase.

Probably the worst time to try and negotiate a reasonable discount given everyone is aware of an imminent price rise.

Just buy from Dom then. It’s a decent discount off the new RRP.
