I can't believe I didn't contribute to this thread last year...

My collection peaked at 27, largely because I was trying to get my head around what I was really into. This number has slowly decreased, mostly through selling several to buy one - a slow inexorable move upwards in terms of average value. When this thread was started I was probably down to about 16, the day before yesterday it was 12 and today it's 13 courtesy of a rather special incoming that I collected yesterday afternoon.

I once said that I didn't think I would get below 9 - I'm beginning to think around a dozen is 'right' for me...

I try to keep it under ten, which works given: my budget and tastes; a desire to not have domestic arguments; and a watches-are-for-wearing belief. I divide my small collection into working-week watches and knockabout weekenders. I try to ensure that the weeklies get the same amount of wrist time as each other, and the same for the weekenders.

That’s started to change this year. As the value of my three oldest watches has increased, I find myself wearing them less. Hence I’m now thinking of getting a somewhat cheaper daily wearer and bringing out the vintage pieces for special occasions (or tz-uk Fridays).

It’s quite possible that I’ll revert to past practice in a month or two.

About 300, but I've not counted for years.
As someone has already said, I buy stuff I like, not stuff that others like or stuff that will make me the biggest margin.

I don't think you can call yourself a collector if you only have 300. I trust you at least have a watch room?

More seriously, I've never seen such a big collection. Very impressive even if (and I doubt it) they were all, say, entry-level quartz. Would be great to see a photo posted here, if you have a day or two spare to prepare the shot!

I managed to get down to 11 last year, after much consideration (and being told to by my wife), but I've managed to get back up to 15 (including 2 incoming). Some being sold again though. Maybe.

I have a 12 watch box that i have just made one space in.

I'd like to keep it to the one watch box if possible, but it's becoming difficult.

I have a photo of most of some of them, there are others (entry level quartz) which are in boxes under the bed.
    Here's a little taster.

I have 4 vintage, 3 modern divers and a couple of g shocks. 98 percent of wrist time goes to the divers.

My total is 9. Here’s the run down and my excuse for having them:

Swatch irony - Bought when i was 15 (22yrs ago) and still have it

Ice watch - present from a relative

G shock - gardening / sports about to retire it (it is about 20 yrs old and plastic is cracking off)

    Seiko skx007 - gateway watch

Citizen ecodrive - holiday and weekend watch

Seiko shogun - wanted to own a titanium watch and memento from my trip to Japan

PRS -25 - i just had to try it

Omega speed master - chronograph, the moon heritage

Tudor snowflake - vintage diver and gets the most wear

Think that’s only one more than my wife thinks.......

That Girard-Perregaux with the brown strap in the middle is currently on my wrist! It's one of my favourite watches and I have to make myself go to the watchbox and select something different after a few weeks, otherwise none of the others would ever get worn.

Oh, and to answer the original question I currently have 11. The watch box holds 10 + 1 on the wrist. I keep umming and aahing about selling a couple of them though.

15 at present. I don't flip or impulse buy, so watches tend to stay.

Occasionally think I should get down to 10, but then I remember life is too short to worry about such things, so just enjoy them.

I find having a varied selection helps keeps each 'fresh' and interesting, as I only wear some once a month or so.

Though, only 5 are what I would personally class as expensive, which helps. Watches costing around £100 or under I don't feel guilt about accumulating, they're just cheap fun.

I'm an enthusiast rather than a collector, so 5 (sort of)
    Rolex GMT BLNR
    Rolex Milgauss (Black face)
    Rolex Daytona (Ceramic Black face)
    Jaeger LeCoultre Master Geographic
    Apple Watch (the soft of!)

  20. #120
Just gone up to 7 but I think 5 would probably be enough (possibly)

I was going to say 12 because that’s what the box holds but when I have had a proper look it is a few more than that...

I joined this forum in an attempt to garner enjoyment from other people’s collection so that I would not need to add to my own... that didn’t work out so well!

    Omega Seamaster 2254.00
    Omega Aqua Terra
    Rolex Sub 14060
    Rolex Daytona 15623 BKD
    Rolex 1675 RootBeer

    G-Shock DW5600HR-1
G-Shock GW6900-1ER on its way to me
    Benson Half Hunter pocket watch
    Janus Hunter pocket watch
    Casio 110QS-37
    And the mighty Casio Royale

And a Smiths that I have no idea about that I bought off the bay whilst inebriated?

I’ve just seen another thread about brogues... my goodness, what a great forum... I’m now gonna dig out the Loakes, Barkers and Oliver Sweeneys

Six for me, looking for the seventh but haven't decided yet. Might flip watches in the future but I doubt I would go any further than seven.

    Two.

    SMP300c - to wear
    Scurfa - the spare

I often see a watch on SC that I would like, but I want a 39.5 mm PO next, I think. Of course it will be a replacement, not an addition. Need to get the funds together though. I am determined that watches won't become my next collection, in fact I am trying hard to collect nothing at all.

Sitting at 32 at the moment and no plans to reduce. Obviously can't wear all of them but just enjoy having them.

[QUOTE=Mitch;4799836]I have not got an exact figure, it was about 300 but I sold about 20 on eBay in the last three or four months for around £8K.

I was thinking, "good, at last I am getting the numbers down"....................................... I have received 16 in the last week!!!

Still, I have a dozen or so currently up for sale.

    Just WOW!

    Always changing!!

I have somewhere around 20 I believe but some are at home and some are in work plus some are with different watch guys?!?!
I would say at my best/worst I’ve maybe had 60ish but I usually only have a handful(4-6)of what I would call expensive watches, anything above £1500 I class as a fair bit! At the moment it’s the most rational I’ve been in years although do have 3 limited edition watches on pre-order so have made a bit of space for these incomings!!

No such thing as too much unles the wife looks then all of a sudden the old “how many wrists do you have?” comes out :-(
