Both seriously impressive engineering.

As long as we can outrun them we should be ok!!!
Apparantly, the 2 owners of Boston Dynamics, Dave Dyne and Colin Cyber, are planning to rename the company after themselves
"Colindave" or "Davecolin" ?
Superb how that robot jumps up on the shelf so accurately and effortlessly, quite scary concept
for warehouse workers to compete with in the next 10 yrs or so.
I wonder where they got their ideas from?

Another step nearer to Robocop
It seems to me that such things are economically (due to human-related state-enforced red tape and high costs, taxes, complications, etc.) and technologically inevitable. The only question is how to best cope with the change.
I really do think that widespread automation will fundamentally change the nature of life and economics.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that.
I read an interesting article on artificial muscle fibre a while ago, which is being developed to replace servos and motors in robotics. That will be a real game changer when it comes.
I don't think the issue is going to be robots turning on humans, I think it is going to be about humans ultimately having very little to actually do...
So clever my foot fell off.
Interesting article speculating on the possible outcome of robots, automation and wealth distribution

We need a robot tax it seems
Perhaps the robots will let us play with their robot dogs.

I have been described as "telepathetic" - my once "great mind" has succumbed to the effects of ageing & alcohol .....
Hopefully your "great mind" is in better shape!
I have a bad feeling about this...
...some interesting comments from Sam Harris.
They're getting better

That was made by a special effects team - very convincing, very fake (thank god)!

Why are they beating up that poor robot.
As with other automation I see in use I do wonder about the real economics. These robots will be extremely expensive when compared to the cost of cheap human labour. Plus, the people who will be employed to repair and maintain them will probably have to be paid a higher rate than the old human workforce. Unless robots will be produced to maintain them in which case They will be hugely expensive etc etc
True but droids will keep working through pandemics, 24/7, don't answer back, and don't have families or other distractions.
....that is until they build in, “personalities” and the ability to reproduce. I remember Marvin the paranoid android. I reckon eventually it will come full circle with the development of the “human brain”. Oh hang-on we’ve got one of those already. Duh!
By then they’ll be susceptible to viruses and bacteria too.
I was glad the training exercise video was fake, almost had me going...
A box of wasps ? Cmon.
Heavy automatic machine gunfire inches from a humans head ? Cmon.
The table flip at the end- haha sentience.
Like a scene out of chappie !
Excellent nonetheless

Yes it is a spoof of the original real Boston Dynamics videos, titled Boss Town Dynamics, parodying the one where they move the box around with a hockey stick.
It's all CGI done with motion capture of a human. Would anyone think it was real? I found it quite funny after watching the real ones

Immediately after the video, it was plugged in to charge for 8 hours. I wonder what the run time is?
