    Speedmaster help please...

Im calling on the forums fountain of knowledge to clear something up...

I have decided on an original-type Speedie and in particular a manual wind with clear caseback, what model number is this? I have tried forum search and Google but as the Speedmaster is sooo popular there is so much conflicting information from a million 'experts' and this is probably a really basic question for many in-the-know on here.

    Thanks.

    You believe wrong.

OP, if you want an 'original type Speedie' th n you don't get a clear case back. Google Speedmaster Sapphire sandwich and you'll get an idea.

In addition to the sapphire sandwich (sapphire front & back) there is the 3752.50 (hesalite front, sapphire back).

When I say 'original type Speedie' I mean the simplest type, black dial and thin white hands, not a limited edition/broadarrow/racing/reduced/etc.

A more recent example rather than vintage, only preference is manual wind and clear caseback, I have seen images of it before but cant find the ref.

Normally when I want something like this a quick ebay search using "sapphire sandwich Omega" will throw up the reference. Great watch - one that's on my list.

I believe this is the current version of the model which you are looking for - the 'sapphire sandwich' as others have said.

My pleasure. As you've probably gathered from my initial "erm" response, and other responses on here, it's not an exact science.
