    Seadweller Hat-trick

I find myself briefly in the position of having three modern Seadwellers of different references, at least for a short time. The SD43, I picked up in trade a couple of weeks ago, and I will be saying goodbye to the SD4K tomorrow, so thought I would post some comparison photos.

I have had the James Cameron Deep Sea from new for about a year and a half, and it is one of my favourite watches. I don’t normally keep any watches this long, and it is going nowhere for now. The adjustability of the bracelet offsets the size and weight as it is very easy to get comfortable, and if not quite right, it can be adjusted on the wrist. I also love the graduated dial which makes this more interesting as I like watches with a bit of colour and tthe ‘Original Gas Escape Valve’ oversized rehaut which adds a nice partition between dial and bezel, although I know this divides opinion.

The SD4K and SD43 have more subtle differences between them, mainly being the larger size, cyclops and red writing on the latter. I think the SD43 sits nicely between the other two and is flatter on the wrist than the Deep Sea. I really haven’t had it long enough to know whether it will take over as my favourite from the Deep Sea. The SD4K still feels right, just a bit smaller. I personally do not appreciate vintage watches, and didn’t particularly like the pre ceramic Seadwellers, so the upgrades on this watch when it was released, really hit the spot

I’m meeting up with a long standing forum member tomorrow who is taking it off my hands (or rather my wrist)

Time, seconds, date, and bezels all aligned.
Hats off to you for your attention to detail.

Love all three but I can see why if one had to go it would be the SD4K. I think SD43 Vs D-Blue is a very hard question. It would be interesting to hear what you think of the two compared after a little while of wearing the SD43.

SD4K is massively dull compared to the other two so if you can’t keep them all then I think you’ve made the right choice.

    Disagree
That’s the only one to keep
Deepsea only suitable for diving suits and Gorilla arms.

Respect to you for your commitment, no reflection on you but all a bit 'samey' to my uneducated eyes,

The SD4k is leagues ahead of the other two. Don’t do it!

These are three (soon to be two) of a wider collection and there are no other black dialled divers. I think they are probably different enough, but do think the SD4K and SD43 serve the same purpose.

Like the others I love the SD4K! Shame you are parting with it, but very nice to have all 3 together :)

To me (and many others) the SD4K is the last of the Classic Sea Dwellers.
I totally understand the SD43 and Deep Sea, successfully distancing the model from the Submariner.
Do I prefer them, that’s subjective.
Each and all have their merits.

I love the SD43 and find the SD4k too small like most of the 40mm steel sports.

But if you had to have one would it be the SD43 or Deep Sea ???

You need a non ceramic dweller now.

SD4K would be my choice, not keen on the cyclops on the SD43 but do like the red text which lifts the dial.

Got to agree! Last of the classic SDs! Cyclops killed it. (That and the proportions.)

I would upgrade your Deep-sea to the new 126660 reference. The bracelet has very similar proportions to the SD43 and looks much better visually.

I would need to get over the old style bracelet / clasp first which is what put me off when trying one on previously

If I could do the swap for nothing, or a very small amount more then I would do, but not worth a lot extra to me as I don’t have a problem with the old bracelet

I will report back with I have figured it out

The cyclops doesn’t seem right to me - it seems odd that they decided to put one on given the history, but although I havne’t grown to love them, I can live with it. Agreed on the red text

SD4K is the pick of the bunch for me. Thanks for sharing the comparison.

I could quite happily have that as my total collection.

Well, once I added a 16600 of course!

SD4K is already on its way to being a future classic it has the right proportions a short production run and a beautiful dial with classic uncluttered look, I think you may miss it but you have the others to enjoy.

And now here it sits in its new, but vaguely familiar home!

The SD4K fits the gap nicely between the relatively small Sub and the generously-proportioned Deepsea. All of them were bought as a result of my WTB listed here and all are awesome watches.

I also briefly had all 3 on the go
    Now just have the SD43
That was a clear winner for me personally
4K lovely but to me, an under-width bracelet
Deep sea sat too high for comfort
SD43 the one to keep imho

    I’d agree with that too.

SD43 is the pick of the three. Bracelet width on the DS and the fact it sits proud of the case kills it for me.

However, the SD43 would be so much more perfect if it had no cyclops!

I have to admit, from loving the SD4K I recently held another and decided it wasn't as impressive as I once thought. I was lucky enough to pick up an SD43 recently with Mk1 dial and now that's probably my favourite SD of all time. It's an incredibly impressive watch in the metal, and I find the Cyclops useful now my eyes are catching up with me. It's also impressively smooth to wind thanks to the new movement. It's a highly underrated watch.
