Which Omega to buy? Spectre OR a Speedy Pro Moon manual wind

I have my eye on a new in AD showroom Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch 42mm [3876.50.31] 4 dials moon phase which I like (I have 4 other various Speedy Pro's) but I've also been offered from my AD a new (at list) Seamaster co-axial "Spectre" limited edition and I do have a couple of other SMP's.

I have to decide by 8.00 a.m. tomorrow if I'm going to get the Spectre.

What do people think? I like both. I'm not looking to flip the Spectre for a profit, but do you guys think it will be a solid buy/better than Speedy?

    Thanks
    Tom

Spectre, seeing as you've ticked the speedmaster box.

Did you read the bit where he said he already has 4 Speedys? Yes I do think the Spectre SM300 with the 1-12 bezel and lollypop is a pretty safe bet. The moon phase is a great looking watch though so I can see why it is a tricky call. Me, I can't get on with the SM300 long lugs so would take the Speedy but the lack of auto wind on would annoy me slightly.

Trouble is I love Speedy's! Bought first new back in 85. Then a new one a couple of years ago. Recently picked up the last Schumacher 7 championships version - love that. Got a 'beater' one I wear a lot too......

But I love SMP's and I am intrigued as I've never owned a limited edition Omega before.

    Dilemma!

I quite like the old school tactile ritual of winding watches - not all the time, but sometimes its quite nice.

The SM300 wear a lot bigger than SMPs, make sure you can get on with the lug length before you jump in, they aren't for everyone. It was a similar situation with the Longines Legend Diver, looks great, silly long lug to lug measurement, many get bought then flipped for this reason.

The Spectre is a gorgeous watch and pretty hard to come by. I would go for that one but i'm biased, here is mine :-)

The Spectre is a really lovely watch. Vintage looks, modern movement and a limited edition. I'm surprised that they are still available as I thought they were sold out. That would be my choice especially as you have four Speedmasters.

    Tricky decisions :)

But nice to have. I'd go Spectre
It's just a matter of time...

    Moonphase Speedy.....meh ! You're covered for Speedies, surely ?

Besides, if you wear them all in rotation, you'll probably need to wind the Spectre anyway.

I vote Spectre!! The Lollipop hand really does it for me

Tough choice. If the Spectre was a touch smaller then I'd go for that. Try both on and decide then.

So which one came out on top?

I also wonder how many people PM'd you to ask if you could tell them the AD that so they could buy the Spectre if you didn't - might be funny to know (not names obviously).

He's probably still in there making them work hard for the commission on the MOON watch.

Be surprised if there was one about- I had a search around a while ago but settled for a normal SM300 Master-In Hindsight glad I did as the lollipop hand doesn't do much for me.

The Spectre literally came in an allocation of a number of various models - total surprise to the OD. They had 13 clients in their interested to have one book.... they decided to let whoever got there first have it. I was first, but decided on ......... the Speedy Moon!

The Spectre is nice as its a Limited Edition but - in the long run I know I'd not enjoy it as much as the Speedy Moon. Not interested in flipping the Spectre, would prefer it if it went to someone who really wants it.

Get my new Speedy Moon Monday!!! Until then I will enjoy my Schuey Speedy.

Good choice! Will complement your set nicely. Anyway the speedy moonphase is not the same as the speedy pro or other variants is it?

I've agonised over the Speedy Pro Moonwatch Moon Phase. I've made final decision - I prefer the 42mm over the latest 44mm versions. Friday is the d-day!

Speedy pro for sure - chronext (not affiliated although I believe the owner posts on here) has a good deal on them at the moment I think.

Do people not realize that he has already made the choice???
Or they don't bother to read beyond the title?

Quite right too. The 42mm Speedie is the one to have. Delightful watch, especially on a brown leather strap. Have fun.....

disclaimer: never a fan of speed master..so I would go for a Spectre which is pretty impressive when handle in person.

Which Omega to buy? Spectre OR a Speedy Pro Moon manual wind

Update: I got the Speedy Pro Moonphase moonwatch but........ I have enough black dial Speedies so, I found and bought a NOS 2005 white gold/steel with white gold dial markers and Broad Arrow hands. Not very common, still it has the 1866 movement and looks spectacular (IMHO) on a black leather strap. Here's one not very good pic:

Great looking watch, but from now on I will refer to this model as the "Zoe Ball"

Which Omega to buy? Spectre OR a Speedy Pro Moon manual wind

It's a white gold bezel. Steel case.

Now on an OEM croc strap and deployment buckle.
