Show your Sinn watches & TZ-UK Sinn photo base

If your asking about mine benny.c, its a canvas from Steveo, real nice bit of kit.

    Question

How do the owners of the oil filled Sinn's find the accuracy?

I find the look of them pretty amazing with the oil bringing the hands to the surface.

I was watching a HD close up video on YouTube on my TV and every time the second hand went against gravity it bounced back. The person making the video mentioned the 'Sinn bounce' but studying that vid on a 40" TV the second hand only 'bounced' when going up from the 6 to 12 markers, then as soon as it was on th way down it ticked like a normal quartz.

I am currently debating the purchase of a Sinn but I'm thinking a 104. It's not a brand I've considered before. I'm thinking of spending more than I usually do on a watch and a Pelagos was favourite but after seeing what people say about the quality of them I'm intrigued.

Also, how are the service times these days? I found an old post on wus saying 6 months (if you're lucky) to service a hydro model.

    Do they hold their value?

The accuracy of my UX was phenomenal, right up until it lost a few hours one day and is currently on it's way back to Sinn :) I guess sometimes you get unlucky - still a brilliant watch and I can't wait to have it back. The look is unique, very hard to describe how the hands look until you see it in the flesh - from some very odd angles.

Mine has the bounce too, they all do - gravity will play a vey small part, it should look different going 'up' and 'down'. People tend to think the oil is like Millers 10-60 or something, in reality it's (apparently) not that much thicker than water.

My old UX was, I think, within 3 sec a year. Yup, I did mean to type year! Not unheard of though for that movement.

Bounce? Yup, they all do that.

Never had mine serviced though it's not going to be 6 months, 6 weeks maybe but not months. A battery should last approx 7 years.

Absolutely fabulous watches, I think I will always have a Sinn my collection although it may not always be this one. Despite being arguably one of the best quartz watches there is I am starting to think it is just a bit on the large side for me.

My quote was based on a couple of posts on wus saying exactly that (as I found it googling reliability of the watch earlier today). This was a few years ago but the chap had a responce from sinn (after sending it to them) saying the work will take approx six months. He posted to say how crazy it was and was pretty much met with "that's the norm" and someone else replied saying it'll be longer, mine was. Also from what I understand it's not just a battery change, obviously there's the oil but some say the movement is replaced and I have read it at least needs removal and cleaning.

As I say, this was an old post but seemed crazy long time to be without your watch!

My 142. Great watch I've had for a few years now. Currently with Sinn for a service before being sold, probably to fund a U1

I am not sure I would have a U1 over this, even though I really like my U1. The U1 is a fantastic watch but I have often thought about getting a 142.
I think is a fantastic looking chronograph. I just wish the new ones still had a L5100 in them instead of the modular movement it now has.

Mmmm, that's the 2nd watch of yours, that I'd like to own, that I've seen in the last 24hrs. The first being the blue Pelagos on SC. I think we must have similar tastes in watches

Not a modular movement... instead a modified valjoux 7750 to replicate the look of the old lemanias...
All in all a very reliable movement

The legibility across all the range is unsurpassed in my opinion, superb.

Very much like the Arktis that was posted earlier, I have been kicking myself for not getting one while they were still readily available.

I have a 356 Fleiger II and a U1-w, here are a few old pictures of them.

Great thread and a great brand. I nearly moved mine on last year but think it is actually a keeper.

Been eyeing this up on Jura, but the bezel seems a much lighter shade in your pictures. Just doesn't quite work for me somehow, which is a shame as the diapal is lovely.

Now drooling over the Testaf version!

I'm sure I won't be the only one looking forward to seeing that. (Hopefully the EZM2 won't have to go back to the mother ship for a new battery before the EZM1 returns.)

Always loved the EZM4. You hardly see them mentioned or for sale nowadays.

Never owned an EZM-4, but I prefer the 140 and 142 to the 156, 157 or EZM-1. The 142 is the quintessential Sinn chronograph. It's big, looks great and it has a Lemania 5100 movement. What's not to like?

An absolutely fantastic collection of early EZMs. Those six are the only ones I really care about owning. I've got 4 of the 6. I might buy a UX one day, but doubt I'll ever get the chance to acquire an EZM-4 for a price I would be willing to pay.
