The watch in question is an immaculate 1964 Seiko 5718-800 chronograph with original bracelet, spare links, instruction book and box. Designed for the 1964 Olympic games in Tokyo it was issued to the official timekeepers and is incredibly difficult to find these days. It a genuine grail for me, I have a 5717 chronograph but with this price I've have just realised I'll never own a 5718!
There's a little info about these watches here
Very interesting Duncan, thanks for posting. I'd never heard of this model before........now wishing I had..........in 1964!
Now that is very ridiculously lovely indeed.
Stunning example but £20,000!
Guess I'll never own one either....
I used to hanker after one of those as well, so very very rare, there was one at around 5k six years ago in Tokyo. I figured it was a little steep.. guess I was wrong 😳
Very nice but £20K? Ouch!
That is amazing. Very nice.
A pleasant enough looking watch but when I see prints like this I feel this bubble is very, very close to bursting.
Just in case someone wants to have a go at one of these extremely rare watches, there's currently one on Yahoo Japan. For a split second I thought the 301,000 Yen it was at when I saw it was the buy it now price and my ship had finally come in. Unfortunately, it was not.

Wowzers, that’s a hell of a final price. Great watch though. Totally unaware of the one. Cheers for the share.

Like the bracelet more than the watch lol.
But guess the combo of completeness and condition makes it what it is! Looks like it was stuck in a draw since 1964.
That is a cool bracelet... They should bring it back! Any idea if they make anything like that now?
