Thought I'd seen that pic before with the BMW badge! Do you also have the username of Highlander or did you buy his watch?

I only found as I spent ages trawling through forums trying to find the same dial as mine.
    Mine was bought from Puffy.
I've finally found an F with the same dial and flat 4 (which according to previous info is a mark 5 dial, only found on D serials!

Yes it certainly is, looks like the stickers were taken off and only worn a handful of times.

LV bezel insert colours differences old and young versions...........................

Notice the difference in bezel colour between the earlier serial LV's (light green) and and later serials (dark green)?

This colour difference continues with the non flat four inserts, light to dark, early to later serials (below).

This F serial with a thin four bezel insert similar has colour to the early flat four inserts. Due to serial of this watch I believe its insert was switched out. When it was sent for service at Rolex London they asked if I wanted a newer insert fitted due to a scratch on the old one but declined worried I would get a newer darker version, as I like the older light colour.

-Also, off hand as I remember the cost of a service green bezel insert was day light robbery compared to the regular black insert (for a touch of green?). The cost of a new one also included a swap of bezels with no return of the old one.

    Reason for service (bad light).

    Cheers,
    M

Would an Indy Rolex servicing agent be able to replace a bezel and return the original to you?

Sadly all Rolex parts are on an exchange basis these days. (unless the indy had some in stock).

Went through this recently. Decided against swapping the insert for that reason.

Currently the replacement bezel, exchange only was quoted at £421.62 and you had to replace the assembly...

Ouch! Last full service I paid for was circa £250 for a 1665 SD.

I was very lucky, about a year after the launch of the LV I went into David Duggan looking for an LV. He had one so I bought it, unworn, with box and papers.

It was a Y series Mark1 dial, flat 4, just happened to be lucky.

Will never be sold as its my son's favourite watch. May not be a Patek, but I just looking after it for him.

Makes me quite nostalgic for the Mark1 seeing them together like that.....

    Fantastic watches.
I've also bought an LV for my son with the papers in his name.
Hope they both appreciate it when the time comes!

So "The Kermit" seems to be getting a fair bit of collectability kudos from the guys on here.
Do you think they will retain their premium which they have at the moment?
    Will it increase?
And why do you think, for a modern watch which was produced for 7 years (I think though not sure)in fairly substantial numbers, that it is proving so popular.
Its obviously a nice looking watch but is it any nicer than say a seadweller from the same period?

I didn't buy it for an investment, I bought it because I like it.

Would have thought it would hold its value, but not fussed.

Can't recall any Rolex going down in value over the last 15 years, especially their sports watches.

Im not saying to buy the watch as an investment.
Just asking why people thought this Rolex in particular was gaining collectability.
And I suppose I might be a tad disappointed if values fell substantially from when I bought it(not price when new!)

Please stop posting pictures of your LV's as it is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore them.
I've tried to buy a few of this forum and the biggest hurdle seems to be insured shipping to Denmark. Ohh well, I'll find one eventually.

    Watch arrived today.
    Immaculate condition-very pleased
Upto the AD shortly and ask them to size the bracelet
It was a z serial number-fairly early z-non engraved rehaut model.
Almost wish it had a few marks as I would feel less guilty putting any on it.

sorry about the supersized image-posted from phone and I'm a techno fool.

Yup, wanted to see what all the fuss was.

Its kind of weird, old case, old bezel, newer maxi dial, green bezel, black dial, old clasp. Not modern, not vintage.

Will see how I get on and if it stays...

This forum seems to find me asking more questions about what I want than helping me confirm what to buy haha. Really like these, love the earlier green colour.
