Worth doing a swap Tudor bronze for omega 50th bond

Hi guys im waiting for my tudor bronze watch to arrive and a friend is wanting to do a straight swap for an omega 50th bond edition. I like the watch, both nice watches, any recommendations?

Unless your a massive Bond fan I would go for the Tudor. The Bond SMP is a bit gimmicky

Not for me I'm afraid. I just recently moved my standard SMPc on, and one of the best things about it was the deep glossy dial... the 007 dial ruins the watch for me.
If you like it though, go for it...

Like other models, i can see the Bronzo being a limited run. If so, that should boost values - I hope. It's so much 'bang for buck', though at £2,700!!

If it had been the 1st Bond one I would have said have a think. This one just had 007 on the second hand but the dial was untouched. The one with 007 all over the place is not a pretty watch. I think it has a nice case back though "gun rifling and a bullet back"

Tudor. It's a 'hot' watch at the moment after all, though for what it's worth not to my taste as it's big.

Tudor for me too, every time. If it's a watch that you're thinking you might move on in a while I suspect that the views noted above will tell you all you need to know - the bronze Tudor will have more of a following, on here at least, I reckon.

Agree! The association between bond and the SMP is one thing, the recent models with 007 on the dial, hands, gun groove dial etc, it's just gotten a little pathetic.

I'm going to go against the general trend here, I think the Tudor is a wonderful looking watch, but in a straight choice between that and the Omega, I'm going for the Omega. I love the simple ness of the 50th celebration. Classic watch and a winner for me.

The worst thing is sometimes people mistake it for gold from far.
Tudor and Oris have come out with couple of the best bronze watches for sure.

How do you do that?

I wondered whether that would erode the bronze. After all, the patina is just corrosion/oxidation of the bronze so you'd be removing a very small layer of the bronze each time.

Thanks Rajen. Having to deal with what toothbrushing can do to teeth I think I'll just let the patina develop :-)

To be honest Raj I'm not sure what the point is in having a bronze watch and NOT letting it patinate?

I have a brass Maranez Layan (that I love) and nobody could ever mistake it for gold ;)

Fair enough I'm a Seamaster and Bond fan so there's worse combinations in my mind although to be fair I prefer the full size blue auto (2531) so I take your point

The watch itself, high quality. I wouldn't trade my 2531 for a black bay. but the 007 branding is a bit naff in my opinion.

That said, to each their own...
