Thread: Trade prices on some Rolex/glashutte watches ?

  1. #1

Trade prices on some Rolex/glashutte watches ?

I realise for a true valuation, the watches need inspecting, but can someone give me some ballpark figures on these watches - i.e. What I'm likely to be bid by trade ?

1981 Rolex Seadweller great white - box and booklets (no papers) - recently sold and serviced by mike from the old watch shop
    2006 Rolex submariner 16610 LV non-rehaut Z serial. Full b+p
    2014 Rolex d-blue Cameron Seadweller - full b+p
1987 Rolex 165760 fat lady GMT II - full b+p, tags etc - serviced by Rolex 3 yrs ago, complete with original dial
2007 glashutte sport evo pandate (black strap) box, booklets, loup

All in fantastic condition, some with original invoices...

    Thanks,
    Simon

I have no idea but I have taken a punt. Those rare watches wont need a trade. Listed anywhere they would sell fast!

For trade prices you could pop in to mark worthington, you might be surprised.

    Jeepers creepers.
This place can be so hostile at times ! I've obviously broken some forum rule - apologies if I have, but keep the stones in your pockets

I've already phoned around, but as you know dealers won't even give me ballparks without seeing the watches and since I'm fairly busy, this isn't an accessible option for the next few weeks. I thought I might get some reasoned values, but hey ho.

It was an innocent request, asking for some ballpark trade figures - but instead I get posts stoning me... carry on kiddies

A quick email to Watchfinder will get you the prices they'll pay without seeing the watches.

Yes watchfinder will give you a price range dependent on condition. Like I say above, mark worthington were very happy to give me trade values over the phone based on my condition descriptions.

My thoughts exactly......call me an old cynic but this looks like one of those thinly-veiled sales posts to me.

Get your top and bottom estimates from chrono24 or watchfinder then phone a dealer (Prestons of Wilmslow?, MW?), you never know which good customer was in and asking about them finding a certain model for them etc.

The trouble is, on the whole, we are not traders. I'd say the prices achieved on here are somewhere between what the trade will pay and retail.
Therefore, asking for a price on here will not be particularly helpful if you intend to sell to the trade anyway.
They will have to see the watches because the condition of them will obviously dictate the value. I buy and sell cars and the price of a 2008 Renault Clio could range from £500 to £3000 depending on condition.

My advice is to put aside a little time and take your watches to a dealer. I understand from your post that you are a busy chap but as you are talking about sales that will total several thousand pounds, perhaps an afternoon put to one side wouldn't be too much of a problem?
