Please make my strap decision for me

Having only just progressed to wiping my own backside, I now find myself challenged by the more profound and far-reaching things in life.

Like watch straps, and whether they are suited to the watch to which they are fitted.

I picked up this Omega double-ridge strap from a helpful Forum member (thank you). I love the colour, but I'm less sure about the double ridge profile on this Aqua Terra.

    What do you think?
    Colour: yes?
    Profile: yes?
Or would I be best served continuing my search?

Your opinions (on the aesthetic suitability of the watch strap) gratefully received!

Looks good, but what’s it like on the wrist Colin?

I assume that is where you will see the ‘bulk’ of the ridges...

The strap it's self looks great, but the combo doesn't work for me.

Colour is great but don't like the double ridge look at all.

    colour yes, looks excellent.

    profile, not so much.

That said, a wrist shot would be helpful.

Please make my strap decision for me

Thanks guys. I'll do a quick wrist shot as that clearly would have been useful from the start.

But I think I can see the way this is heading.

Colour and tanning look great, complimenting the blued hands and markers. The strap is usually associated with the Speedmaster models and the ridges give the strap volume to compete with a larger case.

As others have said, need to see a wrist shot; it would help to see if those ridges over power the case. It doesn't really matter what model the strap is intended for if it works.

I like the strap and love the watch, but for me personally they don't work together. I think adarker strap would look better, and without the ridged profile. Best would be get to a jewellers and try a selection of straps against it, sometimes the right match just jumps out at you,

Great strap, great watch, no match.

You need one more watch and one more strap.

I like ridge straps. I'd have tried a blue one with this watch or a flatter tan colour but purely personal taste.

Not the best pics, but you get the idea.

[chunky jumper would not normally form part of the associated attire for this watch].

Maybe I should be trying the strap on my Speedy instead.

The strap colour for me works well but I don't like double ridges on straps.

Luckily, we are all different :)

Personally, I'm not keen on double ridged straps but the colour combination is fine.

I’m still on the fence Colin, but I must say I quite like it.

I certainly don’t think it looks ‘wrong’, so I suppose it boils down to whether you like the ridge features of the strap.

I think I’d wear it for a bit and see...

It's a better strap profile (without the ridges).

I like the colour but the double ridge can go. It doesn't add much and draws attention to the strap too much.

I had this type of problem when I bought an Omega Moonwatch, new. The AD only had a sample with the bracelet, and spare NATO strap. I was too impatient to wait weeks for what i really wanted, the watch on an Omega black strap, with deployment clasp. So I persuaded the AD to include a black Hirsch strap .
He fitted that, and the proper bracelet and NATO remain in the box. But I could sense that he thought it 'wrong' to fit a new Moonwatch with a none standard strap.
Btw: I think your choice of strap is just fine.

It looks nice, but my preference would be black and without the ridged profile.

Colour, tanning, scales - all good.
Double ridge - thumbs down for me.

I don't think it works having seen it on the wrist.

Looks better on the wrist, but I really don't like the double profile. Might look ok with a flat, brown strap.

    Lovely watch btw

Lovely colour strap but don't think it goes particularly well with the watch.

Thanks all, many thoughts that reflect my own, and of course, some different!

I don't believe that there is anything outrageously wrong, but the profile is not getting good feedback, with this AT.

I think I'd like the same colour and scale and contrast stitching but in the more classic single-dome profile - I'll keep a look out.

In the meantime I will give it a try and see if I warm to it. In some ways I like that it's a little different!

The closest equivalent I have is this.

The strap is from Dornbluth, but plenty of others with similar leather are available,

I think it looks pretty good but it would look better on a slimmer profiled strap. The colours certainly look right though.

Essentially the watch is quite dressy, I would wear a fake croc padded Cow strap ( don't like wearing crocodile / alligator ) but it needs that sort of strap. No ridges or heavy stitching.

It is designed to be a dressy sports(ish) watch. I guess Omega got it right with this:

It looks incorrect, I would replace.

I actually like it though the Omega Croc looks better.

Just a thought Colin, I like the brown gator but what about trying a navy gator to match the hands and markers? Something like a navy hirsch duke with matching stitch would look good and would be fairly cheap to try rather than going for a real gator strap in case you didn't like it.

In my case, that would be due to the four I needed to try before getting it right, each time - which is where the story behind this thread is going!

Well, I think Omega got it wrong!

I don`t think a brown strap works at all well with this watch. Generally I prefer black straps, particularly on steel watches, but regardless of my preference I still think this looks wrong. The blued hands just clash with the brown; a blue strap with white stitching would work much better IMO, or even a black strap with white stitching.

The bracelet beats 'em all in my view, but If I was putting this on a strap it wouldn`t be brown.

Feel free to totally disregard my advice.....you certainly wouldn`t be the first

    Paul
