Aftermarket vehicle (third party) warranty - Warrantywise, AA, Click4warranty etc ?

Anyone recommend any particular company or had experience of a claim?

Looking at a vehicle just out of the three year manufacturers warranty and they do not offer extensions like BMW etc.

As I understand it I may, depending on issue, still have to pay the Franchise garage 'investigation/diagnosis' charges and then claim the actual parts/labour costs back?

    Anyone been there, done it?

Had "warranty wise" years ago on an a6, never had a problem with them, I used to pay top up the labour rate. I had a RAC warranty on my disco, the local garage told me that was the best one and sorted the suspension out and claimed the costs off them.

I think you can buy a BMW warranty, can be more expensive but the best level of cover

Thanks, yes I would go BMW extended as I had it before and was seamless but not a BMW this time!

I spoke to 'Motoreasy' (via Honest John's page) and it seems excellent value but never sure. Apparently they cover all the garage diagnostic labour costs too but will have to delve very deeply into the small print as always to check this...

Ah, sorry misread. I've had warranties from warranty direct, warranty wise and rac. Had claims on all without too much hassle. Merc dealer extended the warranty through them (1st year was merc approved, then another two years with the dealer (listers) it's been excellent and paid for itself several times over.

I deal with the a.a warranty's on a daily basis. Never had an issue with them. Rac is a different story

I don't have massive experience with warranty companies but when I've had to deal with them, it always seems to be a fight to get them to pay up. They pay a ridiculously low labour rate and don't cover a multitude of items.
Often not worth the paper they're written on.

I had a warranty with Autogroup. They paid out without any problems. I didn't have any problems with labour rates or parts costs; a fuel pump failed on my Maserati so the labour wasn't cheap at a specialist independent and the part cost including air freight from Italy was frankly ridiculous.

I took out a gold warranty with warranty wise years ago when I had an E46 M3, and they paid out for some work which the main dealer identified when it was in for a service, so it more than paid for itself.

Cheers chaps, some more quoting and a heck of a lot of 'small print' digesting has got me to Warranty Direct as probably the best option for me in terms of comprehensive cover, consumer confidence and least amount of wriggle room that I can see. A little more expensive than some others but some hard bartering has seen the price come down a fair bit.

They are very good. Best of a bad bunch. You need to follow the rules , if u break down make the aa man take/follow you to the garage. Make sure the garage is vat registered. That goes for the garage that has serviced your car according to manufacturer time/mileage schedules.
They have never knocked back a claim from us and that has been a lot.
£110 per year with breakdown cover included. Got it on both my cars

It is finding a garage that will take those issues on.
Warranty firms are like insurance firms. Nothing but accountants , what goes out MUST be less than what comes in,
Rac was the worst for paying out...every little detail must be spot on. Then they want the garage to clip the costs.

They are all insurance based products - the risk is entirely yours, the small print is the issue.

Be prepared to pay up front and be reimbursed or, the difference in labour rate if using a main dealer.

Small print as stated can be a minefiled

Why not change the car, seems drastic but with some crazy dealS out there put the monthly premium towards a PCP?
