    RIP - Dad

My old man passed away last night, I said goodbye to him with " I'll see you later Dad" sounded a daft thing to say...but what else could I have said, I'd already told him I love him.
He was 88 and had been ill for a few months.
Married to my mum for 61 years, she will miss him as we all will. He served in the RASC (the black bulls)in Germany from 1945 - 51 he
lived in West Africa for 3 years before returning to Hornchurch in Essex. He worked for the Midland Overseas Bank in Cannon Street London until he took early retirement in 1981. He then worked at Auldley End until 1988.
He retired to Hempstead (Dick Turpins village)where he lived for 30 years, before moving to Brackley Northants. He was really decent chap full of morals and doing the right thing.

    RIP Dad

A good innings, as they say. Not that it changes the feelings of loss, but hopefully it will keep the happy memories to the fore.

    Condolences, Bill.

Sorry to hear it too mate. I expect that you're all sorted with the practical stuff but as I went through the loss of a parent twice in the past two years feel free to PM me if you have any practical questions about how it all works. I actually made a "handy guide" for a couple of friends who went through similar and didn't have the headstart I had on sorting out practicalities.

My deepest sympathy, you were lucky to have had so many years with him. Sounds like an amazing chap.

I've just been through this as my father died a few weeks ago, and I still find it hard to believe that he's gone..

So I know how you're feeling and also offer my condolences. Its a very sad time in your life however old to lose a parent.

    may he rest in peace

Very sorry to hear this. His sounds like a life well-lived.

I know that parents pre-deceasing is the natural order of things, but it doesn't really make the adjustments any easier. My sympathies to you and your family.

My father died more than half my lifetime ago now; in my early 20s, I was devastated - but time does heal. There's not a day passes that I don't think of him.

You certainly look like a chip off the Old Block in that photo !

Sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a parent is such a hard thing to deal with, you always think they're indestructible somehow.
