I like the ones when people say PM for details of the shop, like publishing the details here is a breach of the Official Secrets Act

Is that not a sensible attempt at helping a fellow forum member get the deal rather than someone just randomly browsing, or have I got the wrong end of this stick?

And how many folk do you think that are randomly browsing on here are in the market for that specific Rolex ?

No idea, and not really interested either. I was simply suggesting a possible motivation for those that choose that method. I have no opinion on whether it's effective or desirable.

Okay, you are walking through your local town centre and Goldsmiths have a 'whatever' in the window. Why not just post Goldsmiths in (insert town) have a (insert watch) in the window rather than all the cloak and dagger guff, message me for details. Why the secrecy?

Can you seriously not work out the answer to that, or are you just picking a fight on a bored sunday afternoon?

Not getting into a protracted 'discussion' about this, however, you seem to be confusing me with someone that has/would/does make a post saying PM me for details. I'm not. I simply offerred a possible explanation as to what might have motivated someone to do so. Apparently this is incorrect. No big deal is it, someone on the internet is wrong.

Further, for the avoidance of doubt I haven't set foot in nor looked at a rolex dealer for over 20 years, in fact I've just sold the only Rolex I've owned. I have no skin in this.

Apologies if a simple observation has somehow offended. I'll return to my box.

For a simple premise ...."The unified Rolex in the window thread" there seems to be a lot of angst going on. If you see it, post it, and say where it is. Job done, someone may or may not buy it. Does it matter who?

A Rolex Batman in the window of Lang’s Cardiff.

I believe it was around £12,500.

The assistant popped out to tell me it had been reduced by I think it was either £1500-£2,000

That’s sounds even more expensive than some grey dealers online - isn’t this supposed to be about Rolexes at ADs at RRP or at least close to RRP or a decent deal?

Yes. Some seem to have difficulty understanding the title of the thread. For whatever reasons. Like I said it's pretty simple.

I haven’t seen blue face with Roman numerals like that in a dealer store long time. Thanks for posting.

Blue dial 40mm steel Yacht-Master in Goldsmiths Eldon Square tonight.

Maybe not that rare, but a lovely watch all the same!

Would be a baller (idiotic?) move to drop £29k on a gold Sub at this point!

This thread should be interesting over the coming months. Maybe they won't release anything this year after all.

People who are prepared to spend that sort of wedge on a watch are not usually in the position to worry too much about it.

    Laings UK Edinburgh

Two tone Sub black dial and two tone Seadweller available in the Window at Laings.

Also Spring (Virus, store empty) sale just started.

Largely a jewellery sale but they have included the pre owned watch section, albeit after taking half the available stock off the table. Not any bargains just mainly 10% here and there off but as they work on a 100% mark up from buy in price they are not exactly cutting their throats with these discounts.

WoS Cardiff have some quite nice looking steel models at the moment. (none of the "tool Rolex" at all on show or in the shop.)

The unified Rolex in the window thread

Just a heads up I was in my local Mappin and Webb this morning and I believe they have a no date sub in that’s not been sold yet.
PM me if I can help out want details... can’t promise it’ll be there now.

No more PM’s please. Someone has been in touch with the AD.

    Cheers

Colourful line up of DJ2's seen in Goldsmiths Cribbs Causway today, including the blue and white. Would be all over the blue if funds permitted!

  34. #1834
Suspect the DJ2’s have been in the safe and they’ve been told sell anything you can until the inevitable close down.

To be honest I’m not sure. Not to up on all things R related. I assumed they would be the latest release - is that the DJ2?

The pic isn't massively clear on my phone but looks like DJ2. DJ41 is newer but has jubilee bracelet I believe.

Would be no surprise that suddenly the hard to get pieces are found at the back of the safe by ADs behind all the two tone datejusts your were supposed to buy first before they thought you worthy, not so much now when times are desperate for them.

Always suspected as much when they used to fetch one from the safe to show you but it was a customer order!!! This confirms their shady practices of supply and demand...

DJ2 were discontinued some time ago (2016 I believe), so doesn't quite make sense that they would keep them in the safe that long.

Although agree with the comments about suddenly finding stock in the back of a dusty safe! Looking more closely, I think these are in fact the DJ 41 (which also have been kept in safes recently).
They have an option of the jubilee.

i received a call from a dealer asking if i was still wanting a sub, which i of course said yes, he said he would call be in the afternoon. He did and said that it was no longer available from head office! i really don't know why they bothered in the first place!

I wouldn’t take it to heart! I have heard that Watches of Switzerland group closed/ told to close its doors yesterday. So it’s probably just that they have been told not to sell anything.

yes he did say they were closing for a month or so. i guess they tried to sell all of the stock that they had around. hopefully i will be close up to the front of the queue when it re-opens, at least i will have saved up for it a bit more by then!

I saw a DSSD black dial in the window of WOS Oxford St earlier. Although it’s not the hardest model to get hold of I haven’t seen one in a window for quite a while.
Speaking to another AD it definitely sounds like it’s easier to get the previously more unobtainable watches at the moment.

Might as well put all these threads in one, given that there are thousands more redundancies announced each day there are going to be a lot more watches in ADs windows for the foreseeable.
