Ok, thanks for letting me know. Too scared to cheat on my AD so I'll wait for their call.

I mean joe public, and even most WISes won’t have a clue what model is SS and WG.

Whether you like the reason or not, there is a good reason why white gold watches generally sell so poorly. They are multiple times the price of SS and yet mostly look the same to the untrained eye.

If you are going to buy a £23k watch, the owner usually wants everyone to think they are wearing a £23k watch. Not a bog standard £8k one.

A bit of Rolex hysteria as usual. Most other WG watches would be worth scrap value after a good few years.

I couldn’t care less if people know what I’m wearing. In fact I’d prefer them not to know. I was never sure about WG, now I’m a massive convert.

    Agreed.

If you don't get it, you just don't until you own and/or wear a WG piece.

    …..
How do you know what other people ‘want’ ? I’d hate anyone to know what I was wearing….it’s just another watch in a world full of watches.I buy it for my pleasure, mine alone.
Come to think of it, I can’t remember anyone ever commenting on any watch I was wearing. Suits me fine .
If it attracted attention, I’d sell it.

The beauty of WG is that it is special for the owner but appears as a normal steel watch to others. No one would really know.

I might even get it past the wife without her knowing!

Ha ha the blue two tone was the actual watch that got me into watches. My dad had one for years then he swapped it for the all gold blue dial model.

Was looking at a SS 41mm Sub but to be honest I think the Bimetal with the blue, dial and bezel looks stunning.
I have had a few dealers email back and at least they are not saying we are not taking orders like they were for the explorer so that's a good sign.
They just all asking for me.to make appointments to register my interest in person.
I did get offered a 40mm one the other year but the 41mm will suit my wrist a lot better.

Maybe worth chasing your AD as I got offered this a while back and I know a couple of other people on here that have been offered it? Also saw one in London the other day (can’t recall which AD). Sometimes out of sight out of mind!

I agree re put of sight. I called to check in last Friday but no news. Looks like other stores are getting them, just waiting on the store I'm registered at to receive one.

I've had some great steel allocations but the second I want an easy to get in the window piece which no one likes everything changes, typical.

Maybe there's no such thing as a bad/unwanted/easy to get Rolex anymore!

I saw one in the window of the Rolex Boutique at 1 Hyde Park the week before last but I think that’s run by bucherer.

Ha that means nothing in regards to purchasing a Rolex. You said he’s not a watch person but the first thing the guy needed to do moving to a different country is purchase a Rolex. Very much doubt that.

Ryan I’m not doubting that someone has been offered a Daytona. What I’m doubting is the The guy who’s just arrived in a county who doesn’t do watches walks into a Rolex AD because that’s the first thing you do moving to a new country and purchase or been offered a Sub that happens to be there. That doesn’t happen these days! I call bollocks. It’s only my thoughts, nothing personal

Does anyone know where I can get the current Rolex price list? I've Googled for hours but the information is either top secret (would not be surprised with Rolex) or I am, obviously, a clown. Thanks.

Do you need the price list as such or just the prices? The prices for each model are shown with that model on the web site, except for the precious metal ones that are POA; I suspect that's the same on any printed price list

Or if you’re not in the uk and can’t access prices and just want the cost of a few models, let us know here and we can look them up for you.

Thanks. I'll check their website for current prices. I have a memory of there being a sort of spreadsheet with prices listed. I'm looking at a few models and it's curiosity as much as anything else.

The price of anything with an RRP below about £40k inc VAT is listed on the Rolex website so long as you're using a UK connection.

Is the sale of Rolex models determined by dealer price? It’s all about availability. And being an ‘outsider’ (not a local) is worst of all in the eyes of dealers. They like local buyers. That’s key.

In my case, my lady wearing a Rolex certainly helped. And she kept saying we lived just down the road. Local buyers. marriages, engagements, gifts, families, it’s all long-term business.
That’s how local businesses survive over the years..
Incidentally, we pop in and my lady tries a solid gold necklace , maybe other jewellery. Only then do we mention wedding gifts and Rolex watches! Suddenly, the AD calls me ‘Peter’. Bingo…..
And my lady does have some gorgeous necklaces! Teamwork.

Pickup a Rolex brochure - they usually have a separate section for prices including those over 40k.
