I'm really not a gold fan at all but love the Speedmaster and it looks great in gold. Go for it!

Wouldn't mind a gold watch in the future and that ticks all the boxes

Purely my opinion, but I think the gold face makes it look more dated than if it were black. I also think the gold bracelet does it no favours and would look better on a black croc strap.

That's one of the few watches in yellow gold that I'd wear. I'd take it over the FPJ

Looks great, I'd be picking that up over the Journe. Not many gold speedies about, either.

Fabulous Rajen. The gold massively elevates the watch. Just bling enough to think....wow!

That is stunning, the Jim Lovell autograph really adds to the package, how was it obtained?

I've always felt rose gold suits a speedmaster better than yellow gold for my personal taste, but I'd be tempted to make an exception for the Jim Lovell autograph.

Absolutely stunning Raj and the black hands and insert really work well against the yellow gold and Jim Lovell's signature. If you don't buy it I will tell Houston that you have a problem.

Yellow gold watches are not usually to my taste but I would go for that one if I had the cash.

It's awesome! Like others have said, yellow gold would not usually get me excited but that would be such a cool watch to wear and wear often!

Gold chronograph, not my cup of tee.
But this one, this one is amazing.
Go for it, and good luck.

Dont buy it then, you could get a fake PP far cheaper and have a good holiday with the change.

You would have to really love Speedies or really love the signature connection to choose this over that? Or be unmoved, if nonetheless impressed, by the Journe

Congratulations on that one - a gold speedie always seems to have a bit more style than many a gold watch. Looking forward to some more photos when it arrives.

Lovell also had two Gemini flights and piloted Apollo 8... One of the greatest astronauts of the era.

Having a Pt Journe already, I'd have this over one in a heartbeat. BUT IIRC you are missing an FPJ from your collection..? There will always be another FPJ, this Speedy is a rather special opportunity. Go for it Raj!

Very few watches work for me in yellow gold (I don't really like it for much, to honest) and that's not one of them...

I'd love to own it, hate to wear it. Personal preference of course but gold should be reserved for a classic and simple dress watch. That's just a big old hunk of bling.

Excellent choice Raj, I'm usually not a big fan of yellow gold watches at all but this is a beauty. Add on top of that the autograph, excellent!

  45. #45
Gold watches, always seemed a bit Jimmy Savlle to me, but i did't even know they made a Speedmaster in gold. To top it off, it actually looks really nice.

Plus the Jim Lovell link and signed note, no brainer- fantastic purchase

Enjoy, and i wish i was in a position to say "mine says Hi"

Me in a nutshell. Even my gold dress JLC was too much for me and rarely came out of the box although I really wanted it before I bought it.

I like that. For a bit of variety you can wear it on a black strap - both looks will be great IMO.
