We've seen your G-Shocks & Seikos - how about your Citizens!

I haven't seen a thread to post your Citizen watches (nothing jumped out at me when I searched it). I thought I would start one up.

So to start off, I just received "Ray Mears" courtesy of tiny73. It's a fabulous little watch. After wearing my MM300 and Citizen Grand Touring for the last few weeks I barely noticed wearing it.

Looks the business when out and about, and catch sight of the dial at the right angle and the text and numerals all seem to be floating around under the crystal.

The only Citizens I own and used when holiday diving 40m and shallower. Brilliant at what they do.

Lovely watch, and fabulous condition. Was watching it for a couple of days, was very tempted! Hope you enjoy it. I do have a soft spot for citizens, looking forward to this thread.

    All together

These are the remains of my collection of Citizens at this moment in time. I had the Eco and Autozilla's, a couple of Nighthawks and the BN0150-28e (Excalibur?). They have since gone to the auction site we all know.

I sold my initial "Ray Mears" because I too had read that they cannot be fixed any more. Then I decided to make the most of it while I could. I hope it will have a good couple of years left in it yet. I could spend the cost of the watch in a couple of nights out with the wife and never see that money back again, so that is my justification!

Great photos everyone, the danger is it makes me want models I never considered before!

I don't think you can go far wrong with a Citizen. I haven't had any alignment issues with any of them yet anyway!

I hope the thread can catch up with the Seiko and G-shock lot!

    Citizens

    Hi.
    I'm a newbie here and don't know what's allowed and what's not.
    Is there a newbie section?
Anyway I'm a huge Citizen fan and wondered if it's ok to show my couple of Citi's?

The very definition of a tool watch, this is the watch I wear to dive in, mostly in the murky green waters of the UK!

I also had these two for a while, but I never really warmed to the Orca

and I found I couldn't read the mini-screens on the Skyhawk (much as I liked it)!

I really regret shifting this one on:

David - have you still got it?

Otherwise I just have these two:

Well I think this one will take the ugliest prize.

This is a vintage model from the mid 1990s and I think it was an attempt by Citizen to get a bit of the G Shock geek watch action. They didn't get the design right though, with an attempt to copy the Frogman's asymmetric case design.

It does have some interesting features though. One thing Citizen does do well though is lume. The thing is still bright after more than 20 years and it also has a full face light.

Some shockingly dreadful phone photography, but these go back to the seventies and early eighties. My interest in them began with the sunburst dials and faceted crystals which were produced by some Japanese makers at the time. The second one is a replacement for the one that started it for me age 10, although I have as yet been unable to find an unmarked faceted crystal to complete the project.

Some wonderful vintage pieces posted so far, I hope they keep showing up.

I posted this one in the blue dial thread, superbly built watch I think. From what I have read in various forums, it seems to be a fail in the eyes of a lot of people.

The main problem seems to revolve around the crown guard, along with the view it's a Panerai knockoff. I think it's a style in it's own right and I love it.

Here's mine - simple, robust, super clear to read. It came on a nasty canvas strap, but now on a waterproof leather Hirsch Mariner it looks the part. Amazing lume, too.

Just snapped a couple of pics for the interesting Quartz thread, but they belong here too! Fulfilled a few firsts this, first Quartz, first ani-digi, and first Citizen! Love it, it's bullet proof, accurate, plenty quirky with the crazy case and depth gauge. The modern BC strap is amazing too. Good to see a few aqualands, this is a co20 so the first aqualand I think? and you can keep your PADI, scubapros, aqualungs and even your comex, this is a rare dacor branded dial!

Tried one of these on in a jeweller/pawn broker on the Edgware Road - really impressed with the quality and I thought it was stunning in the metal. Shame it was too big for my girly wrists...

Towards the top of the Citizen range are the Attesa's.

On of my favourites is the Attesa ATV53-2834 Skyhawk.

This is hardened Duratect titanium with full DLC. It also has the 'Perfex' system which checks the hand position every hour and adjusts them if they have fallen out of alignment. It was a limited edition issued for the 20th anniversary.

Compared to a lot of the Skyhawks this has a very clean look and an upgraded dial.

These are the one's I've got... (PDM56 something, something, something...). Very clever, perpetual date, great watch but could end up being sold.

and (Gold/Steel diver that I've had for years) - Will never be sold, had it to long.

    but have had the following...

As above, but full lume, including a bracelet that never worked for me...

    and

Eco-drive which was never one thing or another, sold quickly.

    and

The JDM version, Ti and Sapphire. Lovely, just a bit to big and complicated for me.

    I think that is it!

I forgot about the Grand Touring, currently living with my father-in-law. I don't think he's taken it off since I gave it to him.

It really is fantastic in the flesh, so easy to read. Here he is, on the right hand side.

Hope these help, this is the sport version. Width measured with watch and rule butted up against a flat surface. Length measured as close as I could the get the rule flush with the end of the lugs.

Width wise, the non-sport is a couple of mm less and I think length is the same. I will see if I can pries it away from the father-in-law when I see him next and get a measurement.

The aqualand battery just gave up. Pity that the lume is now weak, the watch dates 1997, I wonder if Citizen used something comparable to tritium like for the swiss
