    Netflix film recommendations

People are often asking for film recommendations, or what to watch on Netflix.
I have just come across this list, so make of it what you will......

23 Best movies on Netflix that you probably haven't seen

    Rabbit-Proof Fence
    The Grand Seduction
    Beasts of No Nation
    What Maisie Knew
    Headhunters
    Chef
Encounters at the End of the World
    Fruitvale Station
    Blackfish
    Goon
    Begin Again
Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father
    The House I Live in
    Dope
    The Station Agent
    The Hunt
    Short Term 12
    The Butler
    Cloudburst
    The Imposter
We Need to Talk About Kevin
    Jane Eyre
    Omar

    Give them a go?

I'd say there's a few stinkers in there (chef, goon, etc) but would recommend The Hunt, The House I Live In, Blackfish, Headhunters. The Imposter and Omar were ok too.

Haven't had Netflix for a while but off the top of my head would also recommend City of God, Secret in Their Eyes (2009), Flame & Citron, West of Memphis, Rififi, etc if they are all still available on there at the moment.

I've searched on UK Netflix and very few are on there. Perhaps your list is old or available on Netflix outside the UK.

It did come from an international website, so perhaps some are not available in the U.K.?
Fortunately we have a few more added above to look out for

Headhunters is pretty good if you like dark, Scandinavian thrillers - it is based on a Jo Nesbo novel. The female lead - Synnove Macody Lund is very easy on the eye.

Is The Lives of Others still available? Excellent film

I got rid of Netflix a while back due to lack of usage.

I heartily recommend it then. Rented it by mistake in the olden days from Blockbuster. Great film

    Another +1 for that.

Also watched The Big Short last night. Fascinating insight into the crash of 2007/8. Apparently the characters in it are true. Tells the story about just how corrupt the banking and mortgage system was leading up to the crash and how the failures in the US reverberated around the rest of the world i.e. the rest of the world was pulled into the all the hype and hysteria and purchased these fake articles and products the US was churning out. It got a nearly 10/10 rating.

Out of that list Blackfish is the standout for me; just one of an excellent selection of well made documentaries available on uk Netflix.

    Sicario.....

DEA agent joins CIA task force with very questionable tactics....

Very good ...violent and not typical American sentimentality.....

Director is doing the Bladerunner sequel and I'm a little happier knowing it's probably in capable hands....

Watched 'the big short' the other night. All about the housing market crash in the US. Very good

I really enjoyed "In Order of Disappearance" too but was amazed it came up in the comedies section. Either someone likes to mess with the Netflix recommendation process or they have a very different sense of humour to me. It's a great watch, just don't expect sore ribs from laughing!

Not that I had anything to do with which section that film appears in, however I thought it was a brilliant, intentionally black, comedy myself

That said, I am often accused of having a somewhat unusual sense of humour! And I agree, one of the better films on there I have seen recently.
