    Smiths Everest - who'da thought?

I had a surprise offer of one of these a few days ago, in as-new condition, at a pretty good price compared to what a new one landed in NZ would cost. I've always thought these things were a bit over-sized (I have a Zeno Explorer which I love dearly), but I thought I'd give it a go. It arrived yesterday, I fitted and re-sized the un-worn bracelet and, you know what, I think I'm really rather smitten :

It turns out it has a 2015 serial number and was sold new in August 2016!

One of my few (watch-related) regrets is selling mine.
I'll put it right one day.

I love the simplistic look of these, quite tempted to add one to my collection, great photo.

I saw one on the no-date thread yesterday and was knocked down. I have a mate who has been pining for a 1016 for ages, and sent him the link. I think he's tempted and the RRP is very reasonable. Though at 40mm I'm not sure I'd bite.

The quality and finish on these really belies the price. I've always ummed and ahhhed about the size on my wrist but I've never been able to part with mine and, for what I'd get back, I can't really see the point. Enjoy!

All of Eddie's offerings give great value for money, but I think the Everest is one of the best in that respect. The bracelet came off mine as soon as I received it, and it's mostly been on a dark brown "Titan CS" from Watchworx, with the odd spell on a Nato. I find the size fine on my slightly sub 7" wrist, however I think it might have too much heft for my taste on the bracelet, although that's not the reason I removed it. I just think the brown leather gives it a nice vintage look.

    Spot on Ian!

I loved mine until it was cruelly taken away from me by Mr Kemmner....but we won't go into all that again.

I would love to replace it one day but the Roland Kemmner connection will prevent me doing that.

    Pleased you're enjoying yours Sir.

I loved the look and feel of mine - but the lug to lug distance was just too big for me to get away with it (a useful lesson as I check that every time I consider a new watch now)

    Glad you're enjoying yours

Was that the one that Karl sold, I was sorely tempted. This is very much on my wants list and the size at 40mm is in the sweet spot for my 7" wrists. It is a lovely looking watch and certainly one I will buy one day.

I love mine and regularly wear it in my rotation.

I like the fact is non-date so I don't have to faff about putting it to midday before changing etc

    It's a very versatile watch.

    NATO

    Leather

    And even rubber.

It is a great looking watch.

I found I rarely wore mine though, so I sold it (in hours) earlier this year.

Whenever I see photos, though, I remember how good they can look.

I always wore mine on a leather strap, but put it back on the bracelet when I sold it - I nearly changed my mind at that point!

It's a very long story which I can tell you by PM if you like. Roland makes them for Eddie. His service and communications are appalling and he's not the most trustworthy character either. All based on my experience. That's the short version.
