That's very elegant. What model is that?

I've always loved Tanks but considered (possibly due to my ignorance) that they're possibly a poor man's (inferior??) Reverso.

Having read this thread, I can see that I was clearly very wrong.

It's the age we live in. But my partner loves her Tank, and I can see why. They just have an air of relaxed understated class. A Tank or JLC Reverso would suit me fine.

I have a fair number of chunky divers and sports watches.
They're pretty robust, will take everyday knocks and ideal for my current lifestyle.
I think that's one of the reasons that sports watches are so popular, but I take your point regarding the need for big and shiny etc.

Unfortunately, many feel the need to flaunt their wealth and big and shiny is the obvious way to go, be it with the watch they wear or the car they drive. Subtle, elegant and understated aren't concepts that many people understand.

I see a time in the future when I will probably rotate into some more elegant understated pieces as I get older and my lifestyle changes and a Tank or Reverso would be high on my list.

Nothing replaced it as it was a sale to fund a spur of the moment family holiday. I'm still missing a dress piece in the collection, must rectify that soon.

    My Tank Francaise Grande 2564..

I have a new, OM, strap for it but somehow I prefer it on this knackered original one !?

Doesn't get enough wear. A bit dressy and I don't do dressy very often these days.

I'd say Cartier and Rolex would be the go to choice for the non wis.

Not a brand I'd gravitate towards tbh,but I wonder how many Footballers Wifes will have them,oh and a Rolex Daytona!.

I had a Basculante some time ago, but found it a touch too small. Absolutely wonderful watch, though, with genuine heritage.

Cartier know what women like......but they make some attractive watches for men. I still think that classier 'dress' watches are making a return. We will see.

That watch is gorgeous. The only thing I'm unsure of is the date being so far in the dial. But it's like an attractive woman with a great figure and who's good in bed. You don't mind if she eats with her mouth open.

    Cool Yes

Just picked up a pre-owned Tank Solo XL which is excellent in all respects.

Price is very reasonable for moniker name, new or pre-owned.

    Fits my 7" wrist perfect.

    Legible from any angle.

Doesn't look out of place dress or casual.

The thin sturdy alligator strap with deployant design make for the micro-ist of adjustment whether loose or tight is preference.

Impressive enough where now I will keep an eye out for a pre-consolidation tank with, "Paris", "London" or "New York" dial.

The Retrograde with complications looks better with double date at 12 o'clock.

    I'm lost.

Is that really a forum for people who're sexually aroused by the watch women wear?

Just sold my Santos 100 to fund a Day Date and now it has gone I miss it as it was a pretty classy and understated watch. I am tempted to replace it with a 'Drive' but not that keen to buy new.

Is it the photo or is the case really bashed on the right side ?

    Shameful if so.......!

One just doesn't indulge in manual work whilst wearing a Cartier !!!

[QUOTE=Tinker;4088557]Cartier still seem to have these in stock. The Santos Dumont 'Collection Privee'. Here in platinum ...

    (The movement is Frederic Piguet.)

Everyday I look out for the tank collection privee. I just love this series but finding one is like finding Rocking Horse poo
