My talents are wasted as a delivery driver! :)

A work colleague came up to me this morning knowing I'm a little interested in Watches and asked me for some advice on his Watch (new gen seiko monster).... he mentioned it kept stopping and had a rattling sound that wasn't normal, after a quick look I soon diagnosed that the rotor screw had come loose and explained it wasn't uncommon with the 7S26 movement and I was happy to have a go at fixing it, but if it went tits up I wasn't responsible

Anyway he said go for it as it was of no use the way it was, so out came the electrical tape and a quick sticky ball was soon made, next was the removal of the case back that came off quite easy, we soon established my assumptions were indeed correct and the rotor was laying unattached on the movement, the next job was to make a screw driver suitable for the job and a small driver was machined down on the bench grinder to absolute precision, the said rotor was reattached to the movement and bingo it was fixed, so if anyone has any technical questions regarding Watch movements i'm your man if Paul Walker is busy of course!

Thanks, a delicate operation for me, I've stripped threads on my Harley Davidson in the past lol, so I surprised myself :)

Well done you! I wouldn't have attempted anything like that on a work colleague's watch .... unless I didn't like him of course.

Well done! The same happened on a 007 I had and I fixed it the way you did and felt very pleased with myself afterwards.

I think if the balance spring had become detached from the balance wheel or something I would have had to decline my watch making skills to him as I would have been a tad out of my depth lol

Excellent, well done. I wouldn't consider doing that as I would definately balls it up just taking off the case back!

You would be surprised how much of a simple task it was Paul, it's just having the confidence to have a go, and as said it wasn't my Watch lol

A well deserved proud feeling, well done.

I attempted to get the case back off a quartz beater for a change of battery a few years ago... Got it off and back on eventually after several scuffs and attempts

You're just a small step away from yanking movements out, replacing dials and handsets. Next thing you know, you'll be modding a few, and then you'll get no peace from this community.

Unfortunately it's a dying trade these days, but an interesting one.
