    Which should stay?

This time last year my collection got up to double figures and I was wearing some less than 20 days a year. Realising this, it has forced me to reduce the collection so I can wear the main watches more. I also have the intention of picking up an explorer II at some point so a smaller collection will ease my guilt a bit.

So most have gone, In an attempt to get down to a 5 watch collection (2 Work, 3 Leisure – all different manufacturers) I need to get rid of either the ETA Pelagos or the yellow seawolf II. I only picked up the tudor about a month ago with the intention of selling the seawolf , but I am really struggling to let it go. It just looks good – the perfect summer/holiday watch. Equally the pelagos is a really good watch……..which should go…….

    Other watches

    Work

    Tag Monaco (Blue)

    Brietling B1

    Home

    PAM 111

    XL Planet Ocean Orange

    Then either

    Tudor Pelagos

    Seawolf II

    So which should stay?

I could keep both, but are the PO and pelagos too similar?

  9. #9
Keep the Breitling, which you are struggling to part with and will surely regret selling. IMO it looks better than the Tudor for a casual summer / holiday watch anyway.

They are Jekyll and Hyde, surely.

    One is
Shiny yellow-dialled Breitling that positively screams "LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEE"
    The other?
One of the most understated dive watches on the market, the Pelagos, with not one shiny aspect anywhere.

One of these two will more accurately reflect you than the other, won't it????

I think only you can answer this. *Edit* You even state how good the Seawolf looks, but state the Tudor is a good watch. I would go off how the watch makes you feel rather than how "good" it is

However, if it were me i would keep the Tudor.

I would keep the Breitling. The Tudor is ubiquitous but the yellow dial, thats something!!!

I think as part of a collection the seawolf works - it would be too bright as a main watch.

The Tudor has lots of good stuff - titanium, clasp and bezel to name 3. But it could be any Rolex clone??? Maybe I need to keep it a while

In line with your question, I would lose the Pelagos. But for me both the Pelagos and the Seawolf are preferable to the PO. Lose the PO or B1.

If its only between those two, then probaly move the Pelagos on. The Breitling just shouts out and is a fantastic colour. I have the same Pelagos and while it is a great watch and vastly underated it will have to go. But if something else could go then i would lose the PO or the other Breitling.

Keep the breitling all day long! I suspect that's what you want anyway.

  23. #23
Keep the Tudor and sell me the Seawolf!

I like the rubber strap with the yellow sides. Is that OEM or aftermarket?

He's my take for what it's worth (not a lot usually)

You got the Tudor because you wanted 5 different brands, however you obviously don't want to get rid of the Breitling as you would have done it by now.

So keep the watch you really want and get rid of the one that you though you wanted...

    Keep the Breitling!

    Which should stay?

I don't like yellow dial, but this tone of yellow is a heart melter.

I even offered a seller who had the identical piece for trade, but that didn't happen.

    So, keep the yellow beauty.

The breitling on that strap has alot of character, as part of a collection it is a great option.

While the tudor is understated etc......I find it boring.

To be honest that's exactly what the missus said.....I start talking titanium and lume - her eyes glaze over

Wear each of the two for 24 hours and see which you feel is worth keeping. IMO the Pelagos would work well for home and work.

Should you wish to let the Seawolf II go... you may find yourself in search for the new perfect summer/holiday watch next year.

Good luck in picking up the Explorer II

Keep the Breitling. It shouts loud, a great holiday watch. The Pelagos just seems boring when compared to it.

Another vote for the Breitling. It looks more fun for a holiday watch and it has much higher water resistance. Not that the 500m of the Pelagos are not more than enough, but since we are comparing both watches, I had to bring this up.

Also another unsolicited advice: sell the B1 and the Planet Ocean and use the funds to get a SS Rolex.

Owning the Breitling, I'd have to say keep it. I just wore one on holiday and loved it - can't see it going anywhere soon.

However I have been looking at that exact Tudor too, so no wonder you are having a tough time deciding!

So I think in the short term I'll keep both. The pelagos can be worn with a suit so it can join the work watch collection.

    Which should stay?

Trying to think on why I didn't like the Tudor, it just seemed boring, I know it's a forum favourite but It could have been any Rolex clone, the lume seemed a bit gimmicky and due to the size of the bezel the face was quite small

Where can you buy one? I've asked at the Breitling boutique and I was told that I could only buy one if I had one of the new limited edition Blacksteel watches (I forget the particular model, but it was a chronograph)

Seems a lot of people really admire the Pelagos and then shift it on. I tried one on myself and suddenly realised I do like the bling factor if only from an understated watch like the Seamaster. The Pelagos just seems to sit there.
The Breitling yellow dials I think are fantastic. My thoughts are shift the Tudor

I would certainly loose the Breitling. There are clearly a lot that disagree but I could just not live with that yellow.

Read the whole thread, people - he's sold the Tudor!

Good call OP, I have the same Seawolf on the bracelet and love it to bits. I would also have been underwhelmed by the Tudor by comparison...

Great choice, the Breitling is stunning.

At some point I really like the polar Explorer II, but couldn't get with the small non triplock crown. Still it is a very nice and practical watch.
