I use my Daytona to time:
- Coffee brew.
- Baking (oven timing).
- Lunch Breaks.
granted i havnt used the tachymeter bezel however...
Clearly the only ' off roading' many 4by4 owners do is in the Tesco car park and was wondering if similar applied to Rolex Owners - do many sub wearers go diving? Do those wearing Yachtmasters go yachting? Do Milgauss owners live next to transformers? Do chronograph owners use it fully? Just wondering.

I dive in my 16800 Sub, I use the GMT function when I travel. And have been known to use the time and date functions.

I have never worn my Seamaster in the Sea, my Yachtmaster on a yacht, or my Speedmaster on the moon.
Guess I may as well sell the lot.
I have done a 40m dive in a Sub I used to own and worn my Daytona to Silverstone (does that count)

it's jewellery, so each wearer gets to choose. These days, watches are for fun . It's a kind of freedom. Although I find I cannot wear a dive watch and keep a straight face. It's like wearing hiking boots everywhere.
I look at mine when I want to know the time, so I guess I do make use of its attributes.
I can't imagine too many diving to the 3,900m potential of the Deepsea.
I wear my Datejust just to tell the date.
I hammer tent pegs in with my Explorer II...
I always wear my Hulk when I smash my girlfriends back door in.
I live in a cave so my Explorer II allows me to track when it is night time and safe to come out.

I always wear my Speedmaster on my frequent visits to the moon, however l make sure to always wear another brand under my spacesuit to provide desperate owners of the brand with a tenuous claim to involvement in the moon landings.
When on spy missions l wear my Planet Ocean - because, contrary to any claims otherwise, James Bond wears Omega... :)
I use the crown logo to remind those with lesser watches I have a rolex.
And occasionally tell the time.
This is my routine-
As soon as I am back from my morning trip to moon, I take off my Moonwatch and slap on my DSSD Blue as I get into my submarine. As soon as I am back from the depths of the ocean, I put on my IWC Big Pilot as I take a few bomber jets out for a spin. Then, it's YM time as I go yatching. In the evenings,I hit the racing tracks wearsing my Daytona.
Anytime during the above, if I need to check what time it is, I use my IPhone, though I should confess it didn't do that well on the moon.
Hope this answers you query.
I'm inclined to agree, why have diving watches become popular? I guess it's the watch version of4x4 syndrome...... people buy these somewhat silly vehicles with no intention of ever driving them off-road, people wear divers and they can't even swim!
I'm guilty of wearing the odd diver, I own 2 Omega SMPs, but I have plenty of other watches I prefer. Dive watches are a bit like cats, they all look pretty much the same but to the owners they appear vastly different. One black/ steel and one bimetal diver covers the bases in my collection, frankly I prefer more interesting stuff.
Some yeas ago I actually fell in a river and got water in a vintage Tissot........ should've worn a dive watch rated to 300metres!
In answer to the OP's question, I can gve a most resounding 'yes'; I sometimes wear a Rolex Explorer whilst out walking in unfamiliar areas........that's exploring in my book!

Depends whether 'Getting Noticed' qualifies as an attribute, or not.

^ then again, do dress watch wearers take to black tie every night..
I wear my "no date" when I can't get chicks.
I am currently wearing a polo shirt but don't even own a horse
Never seen a sub I like due to being picky about colours and just don't get on with black on black dive watches, so I went with some lowly omega instead. But like Dick Strawbridge, my Bond SMP is my beater and water based watch.
I've been round a few racetracks including the Nurburgring with my Daytona. My Sub is regularly used for timing in the kitchen and has been in the sea a couple of times. Dangerous stuff, I know.
I never intended buying for any particular purpose, just because I like them really.
I've been thinking for a while that there is a real hole in the market for a watch that could be worn while relaxing in the cool shade to be found under a well travelled bridge. Ever since the Omega 'Goatmaster' Special Edition was retired nothing has really taken its place. There must be a Scandinavian manufacture ready to oblige?
I'm wearing Jockey shorts at the moment. Does this make a fraud because I am not a midget and I don't have a face like a scrotum?
I always wear my Clownmaster when booking a table at McDonald's.
When perusing the literature in my local newsagent, I wear a Jazzmaster.
For socialising, it's the Pubdweller.

I guess I am one of them!
I guess it is the aesthetics of the dive watches which appeals to me.
Funny world and funny hobbyists!
My GMT helps me keep track of my son in USA
I sometimes wear trainers and I'm not even training!
Whats that all about?
