Thread: Not another holiday watch thread!!!

  1. #1

    Not another holiday watch thread!!!

Just got back from a week in sunny Dorset. For my holiday watch I decided to 'controversially' pick a watch I already owned, strap it on my wrist & take it on holiday. Funny enough it worked fine, no problems, just saying............:-)

Taken on Avon Beach, Mudeford with the Isle of Wight in the background (just).

  2. #2
    Ditto

Taken at he Piazzetta, Capri, with my PRS-18Q in the foreground (just)

funny how this thread has gone from taking watches you already own to the beach (as opposed to buying new ones), to shop displays of Rolexes and Pateks....

I love Taormina - if you go down to the park there is a statue of some Italian Frogmen on a "miale" torpedo.

Enjoy the town is one of my favourites.

Is that 19 grand for a new Daytona? Yikes, thought UK prices were bad enough from grey dealers

I've seen the maiale in the park, but I think it was a real one from WW2 and it didn't have any divers on it: it was a few years ago bough so maybe my memory is wrong?

Not sure, it is more a tiny village than a town, and the only bar worth talking about is the caffè Turrisi. I can't really talk about it in G&D. Do a google image search and you'll see why ;-)

I saw those very watches in the shop window in Taormina last week, and yes, we did go up to Castelmola and visited Catania.

Holiday watch was a Garmin FR235 or a Seiko 009 depending on circumstances.

I used to leave my nicer watches at home and use my Steinhart on holiday but I only do that for a Stag Do now.

I did feel awkward about my Tudor on Honeymoon in Kenya so took a few cheaper watches to vary depending where I was. Shopping in some Mombasa market was not the place to be sporting a 3k watch!

Lovely stuff. If that GMT was the two tone it would have perfectly matched with the yellow parasol...
